RC skydiving jump plane

Im just getting into the idea of rc skydiving and was wondering if there was any plane out there that has been specifically designed for the job of jump plane?

The Hobby Lobby Senior Telemaster and the Bruce Thorpe Flying King work really well for skydiving platforms. I use the senior telemaster myself.

I've also been using a Senior Telemaster. Originally had a Supre Tiger .75 for power and am now using a Supre tiger 2500. I can take up 2 RC Skydivers with no problems. Rod, I see that you are a few miles down the road from me (I live in near Little Rock, WA just south of Olympia). Would like to get together with you and do some RC Skydiving. I'm going to be gone until around the 11th of this month. Get back in touch with you then, ok?

I used a Robinhood 80 powered by a Super Tiger 3000 to drop a GI Joe pilot with a golf umbrella for a chute, worked great.

The very first time I dropped "Joe" from the Robin (test dropped several times from a heli the week before) I circled him all the way down, landed, taxied back, shut down the plane, put my radio away and sat down just in time to hear the sirens.....

Somebody called 911 from a car on the freeway a half mile away and so here comes a ladder truck and a paramedic truck into our parking lot. The Chief said they figgered it was probably us but they had to respond anyway. :D

RE: RC skydiving jump plane

We use the Giant Stinger with an electric power plant for our big divers, it will take up 3 at a time. We have just switched over our jump plane for micro skydivers to an E-Flite Mini Ultra Stick. I have rigged up a 3 drop box setup on it also. We have tested up to 2 skydivers at once with no problem, I know it will take all three. All and all you need to think of ground clearance when selecting a jump plane. Also think of a high lift wing or alot of horsepower. Many airplanes will work, or heli's. (which we did this summer with great success) We have even rigged a drop box with its own receiver and battery. We put it on the same channel as the skydiver, then the skydiver releases himself as needed. This setup lets you move the dropbox from plane to plane with no special setup in the airplanes. This way you can even jump from a 4 channel plane that doesn't have an extra channel for release.

I bet a 1973 Cessna 172M would make a good drop plane.

Hi Gary ,

Lets hope this one has a longer "lift" life time than the other one .
Looks great !

Had to donate a new engine to ? or did the old one survived the crash ?

Good luck with this one !

Hi Jules,

The engine involved in the crash is on this plane, the one I got from Paul F. at the Muncie rally last year.
I had to replace the crank, bearings, and weld a mounting ear back on, it seems to run good so far.

The plane in the previous post came already set up with a Futaba 7C 2.4 dual receivers and dual batteries per rec.(4 rec.batt. total)
already set up with a single skydiver drop and a skydiver, one of Dave Naylor's earlier models
