First time
New here. Had a few small battery controlled planes but it's been a long time. Not long ago I purchased my first CG Super Chipmonk kit from 1988. The manual says to use a 4 channel radio. I have never purchased radio controller with servos ect. Can anyone steer my in the right direction of what's the best radio equipment I need for this Chipmonk? Could I go with old original that they sell on eBay?

Get something modern, Horizon Hobby has Spektrum radios in every price range, personally the NX8 and some hitec standard servos is what you're looking for and a 6 channel reciever.

What Barracuda said is spot on. Also, I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are going to need to learn how to fly and if so, this Chipmunk is way over your head. May want to get a trainer sort of hi-wing plane in either balsa wood or foam built.

Yes I just purchased a Fms Ranger Reflex plane to get some flying and landings down. I'll be practicing with this while I'm building my Chipmonk.

Smart move. Good luck with the Super Chipmunk build.

Do you know if it's typical you don't see the clear canopy top in the Chipmonk kits? I mean did they not come with it?

If not in there, then you can order an aftermarket replacement here: Cowling & Accessories for Kits Click on Carl Goldberg, then find your Chipmunk canopy in the list. |
