Get a fail safe first, before anything else. AA batteries come in eather 1.2volt or 1.5volt so if you use the 1.5volts x 4 you'll end up with 6volts total. (1.2=4.8volt)
Get a failsafe first though and you'll be saving money in the long run.
Get a throttle return sping also whilst your at it or just use a couple of elastic bands as your broke.
Get a part time job also.

Anyone have a spare battery cover for the jammin x1 cr? As you can see its missin in the picture, because I reall y dont want to pay $18 for the set that includes more than I need. Id pay like $5 or something.
complete setup, worth having IMO... the carbon fiber part of the radio tray can crack.

Lez, you cannot use 4 aa batteries effectively in a 1/8th buggy, regardless whether they are 1.2 or 1.5v. The 1.2v are MUCH BETTER Than the 1.5v, because of the chemistry and the current they are capable of delivering. To go from rechargeable 1.2 to non-rechargable 1.5v will give him WORSE performance from the servos because alkaline batteries cannot deliver the current required to turn 1/8th buggy wheels at speed, and will cause brownouts to the other electronics of the car.

Hi Foxy, you could be right on that, I have used both the 1.2 and 1.5volt batteries(back in the beginning of R/C) and they both worked, if the O.P is hard up for cash it was just a sudjestion so that he could at least drive around.
I still say "GET A FAIL SAFE FIRST" though.
To the O.P.
Yo Meef, what kind of area do you live in??? Is it rural or city limit???
Maybe I can help you out getting a part time job even though you are in the U.S.A. and I'm in Belgium, I have alot of friends over in the States. Is that Orange County where you live???

Yeh it depends to a certain extent on the servo of course, but a big juicy 15kg servo will definitely strain the capabilities of AA type batteries.
