RE: ofna hyper 8 rtr (YES/NO) BUY
Check out the hyper 8 thread, I think its up to over 60 posts by now, lots of good info there. My 7 is great, nothing ever breaks even with the worst driving, mine The only problems I have had are engine tuning, leaky diffs and shocks or just lost an e clip here or there. All easy to fix. I've seen the hyper 8 with the 28 and it flys, really. You'll be VERY happy with it. Haven't seen that one break either. Theres also a lot of hop ups for it and it has won many races in europe, or at least the driver won the race driving a H8.

I do not do RTR but do have the Hyper 8 pro kit that has many hop ups and better parts then RTR. It has been great buggy with well over 8 gallons on it have broken very few parts. Lets see how long it takes for you know who to get on here and say the opposite!

If you MUST have RTR then there are far worse on the market.
You can upgrade it to full pro spec, so there is plenty of potential in it.
Hypers are generaly very tough, but their RTRs don't come with particularly great radios.
So if you must have RTR and don't want to/can't afford to by the pro then go for it.

RTR £300, Pro setup ~ £1000, there is a reason people go for RTRs, I myself look at the long term cost of the buggy and with the hypers you cant go wrong with RTR, coz if you want a better engine, just pull the RTR one and flog it, then lay the cash into a far better mill for an added £50.
Generally though Any .21 will outrun a .28. It's all about RPM, .28s dont rev so high.

If all you want is outright speed, In that case just get the RTR, drop in something like a V-spec,Ninja or an RB WS7III, put on a large clutch bell and just work on loosing weight.
I'm assuming you will use it on tarmac? (otherwise outright speed isn't important) get some slicks too.
No point in buying a pro here cos you'll smash it to pieces hitting anything solid at high speeds.
Theres a few other guys here from miami who do this, just have a word with them.

So typical, "all I want is speed so I can crash into a gutter at 60mph and destroy my car, woohoo!"
I get that everywhere, first question people usually as is "how fast does it go?" Bugs the hell out of me because people don't even have the common sense to realise tracks/ top speeds are completely different setups.

RE: ofna hyper 8 rtr (YES/NO) BUY
hey bro I just purchased a hyper 7 w/ the .28 macstar the same engine as the hyper 8 rtr has and I love the way the car handles and the toughness of the chassis but I am not satisfied with the power. The Force .28 sucks the doors off of the macstar! Another con to the engine is that the engine doesnt start producing sufficient power until temps reach 265+! other than that, the car is cool but not enough motor for me.

I had they H8 for a while and found one flaw . The arms and tuning inserts seem to wear fast , I was always replacing them as they wore down fast and would get a lot of slop . It`s a great buggy , but for racing every weekend like I do , it just wasn`t holding up . Maybe they changed the material for the 8.5 ? RTRs have cheaper and thinner parts and not worth buying IMO . I like the old days when we had to build everything , if it was like that now I think many people would know more about their cars/trucks and know how to repair them .

Dude the macstar may be o.k. to bash around w/, but not on the track! We had a little drag race at the local hobbie shop and the stock .28 Force would outrun the Mac*[:@] and the .26 Force would run with the Mac*. Oh yeah, the Mac* was running a 250+ temp. and the Force engines were around 240.

Different cars with different gearing will make a big difference . Also top end speed is useless on a track .

I have the Hyper 8 pro for about a year now with over 9 gallons on it and do not have a problem like you did. I have broken very few parts and I assure you I have wrecked it every way possible at lest 10 times each. My first year of racing was this year and it put me in 10th over all in my class in the Georgia Championship Series and I am half blind. The series was 8 rounds at 3 different tracks.

Maybe they changed the material , maybe I had a bad kit ? I know of at least 6 others that got them when they first came out like I did and had the same problems . Actually , I got mine before they were supposed to be released .

That is why I all ways wait at least 3 to 6 months before I buy anything after it comes out. Did yours come with the fuel tank that was prone to cracking? When I go my kit it had the up dated fuel tank. The only problem I had was with the rear up rights and I fixed that by CA gluing the inerts in.
