RE: Big Bummer
Well you either overtightend the glow plug, put a glow plug in while block was hot and overtightened it, or you crossthreaded the hole. The glow plug only needs to be snugged up.

You can get a new button head for cheap. When you get a new one make sure the plug doesn't start to cut its own threads. When installing a plug twist it backwards to seat the threads and then tighten it.

RE: Big Bummer
... and don't put in an old or dirty plug, that's bad too. some heads have the button built in, you may need to buy a hole new head.
hope it didn't hit anyone standing over it refueling or setting it down, that would be the big bummer.
