There good buggies still with plenty of parts and hop ups available. But i belive the new version of Buggies currently comming out are lighter and more nimble, which gives a slight advantage to a top driver.

Thats the main reason i have seen for people swapping from X1-CR's

i own a x1 cr running an go tech motor. a jp-1 pipe and i run circles around the losi 8's. and as far as i am concerned losi can keep on winning because with gil losi leaving they will eventually end up on wal-mart and k-mart shelves with all the other cheap crap that is put out. and if you don't believe me take a look at the stuff losi is throwing out there now. it is the same quality that you find at radio shack and wal-mart. just a higher price tag. in my opinion i would rather run at the back then drive a losi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have one, bought a roller on eBay and converted it to brushless electric. Runs like a bat out of hell. Somewhere here I have a running post on the project. Maybe I can find a link and pictures / video.......

Nice job. I dont normally condone electric, but any conversion that involves so much work gets my thumbs up [sm=thumbup.gif].

How fast does she go.?

Finally get the engine in and its running great, car handles like a dream. I have the FTSE which comes as standard with BB Shocks etc and it turns on a dime! Running a Go .21 7P engine and JP-1 its just ripping up the track.

Must admit its great to see me running up against all the Losi, S3's and RC8's

Thanks - can't say based on speed runs, haven't done them. We did turn a 29 second lap at the track this weekend, with the fastest 1/8 scale buggies running at 27 or 28 second peak lap speeds (so we were able to run with the best).

I hope to get some video footage edited and posted in the coming day or two....

@ Logi3

Yupp, does handle extremely well. I still have some diff tuning to do, but goes extremely well for the most part. They can keep up with the others and take them down as well

Ive managed to convince a friend to get into Buggies, hes going for an Xray 808.

Ill take that one down too [>:]

@ HandyRacing

Just a general question, stupid might seem.

Do they loose any of their Handling Abalities once you convert them.?

I know speed's gone up, just thinking about the handling.

I'm told it feels more or less like a 1/10 scale 4x4 rig, as the motor brake function is the same. Tuning front and rear bias is more via the diff oil fluid viscosity.

(I'm the sponsor and pit crew, my partner is the driver)

The fellow who posted pics on my project thread is converting his and keeping the OEM mechanical brakes, so that is an option for the Nitro folks who prefer that option. To the extent that the conversions may drive differerent, I would say the feel is more of a learning curve / adjustment.

It is of course a person to person bias, the Nitro folks say they like the old feel better, the folks who are enamoroed with the power and lack of noise / lack of fuel cost / less aggravation of neighbors - like them just fine.

Hey qaiz, how are those Big Bore shocks working out for you? Mine still has the 13mm and even though they still work great I am looking to upgrade.

Those were the ones that came in the Kit, I like them, solid built, no leaks, good preformance. Cant comment on the 13MM's as Ive never tired them before.

Truth is if I put nitro engine noises over the audio you would never know if it was nitro or electric. So I don't see any advatage for one or the other, just personal preference.

Thanks for the observation, have you tried a brushless powered rig? One example of the difference is the Nitro motor takes time to wind up and get to the power band, the brushless is instant power (call it a throttle lag). The do drive differently because of the extra power on demand and resulting quick acceleration.

When we watch a (former) Nitro only owner test a brushless, they normally smile when done.

Another point to make note of would be the mike on the video camera would never have picked up the race director calling the race, in a Nitro environment. Which I like very much. Makes for a better video.

Extremely good, based on the Novarossi line of engines. Quite pricey these things, but absoloutely rip .

Nice paint job.

How are those GRP's going for you, eyeing them, the ProLine Step Ups I use have amazing grip, but wear extremely fast.

Thanks.

The GRP's have been doing great, they have good grip on loose tracks and they don't seem to wear out too fast. Plus they were pre-mounted and I hate having to glue tires
