Default losi 8ight b 2.0 VS XRAY XB808 2009

I was about to buy a losi 8ight b 2.0, but now i noticed the XRAY XB808 2009.
I don't know what to get!!
If i had a grp tuned .21 engine in both of them which one would win in a race???
Which is lighter, which is stronger???
Which has better parts???

Could you guys please tell me your thoughts... i don't know what to get!!!!
Can you please support your answer with specs???
Which buggy is better quality???

Flip a coin

I love the question "which one would win in a race?". Answer: The one with the better driver.

The 2.0 is probably lighter. Both are very durable. Xray has better parts quality (fit and finish) but parts are more expensive and can sometimes be hard to get.

In reality, all of the race bred lineup are all about the same in durability and pretty close in weight, realisicly it is nothing more than a matter of opinion and preference, just do some research on both of theese and choose the one that you like best, if you buy a buggy that someone tells you to buy and you don't like it, then what do you do????

Also, a lot of it has to do with setup. If you have a bad setup on a great car, your still not going to be very good.

Flip a coin. Both cars performance and durability is 99% identicle. Both top of the line, don't take anyone saying one is better than the other as they would be incorrect.

Also see what everyone else is running. Like say you get the Xray, but everyone at the track owns the 8ight. When you break a small part, no ne will have that.

But with the 808, you won't break the small parts all the losi guys have to carry....hehe!

Such an untrue statement...

I would buy the 2.0 for this reason.

Its a modified/improved platform of the buggy that x-ray copied.

And I wouldn't purchase a 2.0 for this reason;

It requires to much maintanence, is not as durable as some other buggies, and most come with major factory defects. (and this all comes from first-hand experience)

Any thing that is raced requires maintenance.

What are some of the factory defects you have found on the multiple 2.0s you own?

I'm glad to say I don't own one. But working in a hobby shop, I know a thing or two about most of these cars. Here's a short list of some of the defects....

Defective servo-saver; It burned out a JR8800.....
Defective shock towers; Split after one lap on a track....didn't break, split!
Defective shocks; 3 shocks had 4-hole plungers, one had a 2-hole......

Thats just three of em, and they are the only three I will list as they are the only three cars I saw opened and assembled in front of me, and break.....

and the 808 is some magical car that has zero flaws.....i seem to remember guys doing in R+P's due to the rear case and bearing's....not to mention the fact there are barely any set-up sheet's for major know'n track's in the US....but w/e id rather have parts on hand due to them being cheep and available as apposed to NOT having the part due to availability or cost...as Xray parts are significantly more expensive....but w/e floats your boat i guess.

Just for the sake of argument, servo savers can be set too tight. Maybe it was a defective servo. It's not like other manufacturers shock towers never break. And mismatched pistons could hardly be called a defect. So out of all of those, the shock tower is the only thing that could have possibly been defective. But like Integra said, to each his own.

It's a defective servo saver when it's lubricated with red locktite.... but losi did admit to the defect and send a truggy servo saver....

Well, that's not really a defect or design flaw, just a defective brain of the person putting the thing together. I must say that their use of red loctite is rather dubious. I thought I was gonna dislocate my elbow trying to get the wheelnuts off for the first time.

I have owned a losi and I have to say ...never again..2.0 or not
even if it is the most beautiful and racy buggy out there
I really hope the 2.0 is much improved in quality

the 808 is an xray , quality is real no hazzles
could only be improved on the drivetrain
which is real trick
and they did for 2009 version
now it's bulletproof ...

Nothing RC is 'bullet proof'. Xrays break just as easily as any other pro buggy. (Losi's are a bit more flimsy in some areas tho)

I wouldn't say it breaks as easily as "any" other buggy. Its definately one of the tougher cars out there. I haven't broken my 808 yet. I don't even have the updated bulkheads. I do run the spacer between the bearings though. Another problem the old losi had was the throttle servo support/eating throttle servos.

The one guy said it himself the xray is an improved losi 8ight. Improvement is always better, right?. There is your answer

This whole thread is bogus.

Look here come the cold hard facts:

Both are good! Both will break! The buggy doesn't make the racer, the racer makes the buggy! I'm sure James Taylor and Jared Tebo could use a Red Cat buggy and destroy 85% of the people on this forum on the track.

Here's what i want you to do. Go to your track on race day, walk around the pits, talk to the guys that are racers, see what they are running. Then go to the your lhs, see what parts the stock. Chances are there are going to be 8 2.0's RC8's, MBX-6's, and MP-9's, and possibly xrays.

In summary, you shouldn't worry which buggy is better, worry about what buggy has support in your area, at the track and at the hobby shop.

Thats funny, I haven't just plain wore out much of anything on my Losi (ok, steering akermans), have I broken things?... Sure, a few but at the cost of my own mistakes or really brutal collisions with other buggys. But to say they wear fast... I just don't see it, I had an MP5 back in the day and that did wear parts fast.
