Default Benefit to walking the track?

When I raced motocross, we always walked the track after practice. Seems like in RC you would benefit from a closer look at the track yet I see no one doing it. Is it a waste of time in RC for some reason?

My son & i come from mx also & we walked the track then & walk the r/c track now. It's the only way to see smooth lines , holes & ruts or kickers on jump faces, just like in mx. I don't see many people walking the track either. In mx as you know you hit a bad line & you're hurt but in r/c you just crash so maybe it's not as important but i think it helps.

Huh. I thought this was a common practice? Perhaps not. I walk the track before and after my first warm ups. Just me?[sm=confused.gif]

lol! this is true!
not matter what track im racing on, whether it be kart oval, or sprint car i will walk the track you can almost see where you need to be and make better judgements and same
for the r/c tracks.

maybe your not there early enough to see the fast guys walkin it.

from what ive seen its common place to walk it before the big main or when you first roll up to the track for a day/weekend of racing.

I always walk the track, mainly to stretch my legs but also to see if the track is in good condition and to remove things that should'nt be there, i.e big rocks, sticks and definatly check for horrible things that dogs leave behind. I hate SH§T in my buggy, it smells and aint fun to clean out.[:@]

They all walk the track here. Never heard of just going in blind.

it defineately helps to walk the track. you can stand in spots and see how big or how small gaps are in turns and you can adjust for that. if there is a crazy double or triple that maybe you can jump from one side better than the other.
