I'd get either the Picco or the Hyper 7. I got the picco and love it. Any way you go with an RTR, you will need to upgrade steering servo soon.
The reason I got the Picco was it had a slightly better motor than the 7, and the big bore shocks.

RE: matrix c-1?
I bought a C-1 a year and a half ago and it has been great. Keep in mind though, everything that moves will wear and need replacement. In my opinion and experience, cheap buggies cost more in the long run because parts break and wear faster. When you get some skill, you'll want better performance, which means expensive upgrades.
(Being cheaper up front worked for me though because I didn't have money back then).
My current buggy is a Hot Bodies D8, O.S. v-spec with a JP-4, hitech 965 and Ace DS1015, and the MX3 radio from my C-1.
I recommend an RTR like a Losi or AE.

RE: matrix c-1?
Thats the thing. I know its going to cost more in the long run and i should get a kit. But i only have around 300 bucks to spend after building a 1000 buck heli[&o]. I really want a brushless buggy because it is a little less expensive and easier to maintain. I also have a great charger for lipos. I might get a matrix and later convert it over to brushless and get big bore shocks but like you said it is going to be just as expencive as a d8 in the longrun.goddddd why is it so complicated!

I race the Ofna Picco at my local track. It is race legal at my club races. If I were to race in one where they check legality, it would fail the fuel tank size. It has a 145cc tank. Most local club races don't care about it though. At least as long as you are not winning all the races w/o pitting for more gas. I have a slight advantage in a 10 minute main b/c I don't have to pit. SHHHHH don't tell anyone. I have not got first yet, but have been second a few times.

RE: matrix c-1?
The matrix C1 is a great buggy for the price. I have mine for over 2 years now and it's rock solid. Yeah it's a little heavier than the new rigs out there.
For an RTR, the matrix is great, 144oz metal gears servos with a good MX3 FM radio. Servos are a bit slow but they do the job untils you'll replace them.
You surely can't go wrong with the matrix

You don't have to make the perfect decision. I didn't and still had a blast. I think the subjective is important, like what buggy do you like the most? It is a learning process that goes on forever, just get started!
