Are boca bearings good?

Avid is what I run. Not sure about the brand you said. I would just go with whats the cheapest. Most of the time bearings are bearings, and people buy the most expensive ones name brand just to show off.....but no need

i noticed that the factory bearings where lighter then the bocas. so im sure the boca bearings will be better than factory.
by the way, how often do diff bearings go out? i have never had one go, but this is my first 1/8.

Depends on how often you run it and how well you maintain your buggy.
Some racers will change all the bearings after every event or even race.
With bashing and normal upkeep, cleaning and a squirt of WD40 or the like they should last about 6 months to a year. However they are a "consumable" product on cars and should always be checked. It's one of those things that I carry plenty of in my tool box. And not just one size. Most cars run three sizes. Standard wheel hubs and diffs, clutch and ackerman bearings.
