Question about cleaning buggy
 

I just purchased a HPI Vorza Brushless Buggy my first electric buggy. I love it fast, fast. My question is how to clean it without damaging the electronics i.e. motor, speed controller. On my nitro buggy's i just used a strong degreaser and rinsed them off. Not sure how to get the dirt and mud off this electric one. I use compressed air to get all the loose stuff off, but I'd like to get it really clean. Any Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

I used a powerful Hairdryer to get the loose stuff off and the use stiff paint brushes to get the rest. A small one to get the tight areas and a larger one to get the rest.

I tried your suggestion, work great. I took a brush and shortened the bristles with a pair of scissors and it got the caked dirt in the nooks and crannies out. Used an acid brush for the small areas.

I found a easy way to keep my buggy clean now. I bought some spray silicon from the auto parts store while and I was doing some repairs I got everything as clean as I could get it and when I was finished. I just misted the whole chassis down, the stuff dries after a little while and leaves a silicon coating behind. Now nothing stays stuck, the air compressor gets most of the loose stuff off and the using the brush the dirt just comes of. When it looks like the coatings wearing off I just respray.

WD40 on all parts except elctronics use old tooth brush (don't throw them out they are good for something)............ comp air - then WD 40- let sit about 15-20 min then comp air againand use a cloth and tooth brush to finish up. The WD40 will make it look brand new!! and is good for tires at the track also.

congrats on your new buggy! Iget mine tomorrow!!!!!!Ican't wait. Iam very very excited. Iam getting the Vorza Flux as well. Is there anything you don't like about it? The only thing Iam concerned with is the weight of the buggy. Iam mainly going to be racing it on the track.

You'll like it, it's heavy no doubt but it has so much power you'll never notice it. It needs stiffer springs all the way around, right now I've got them cranked as tight as they'll go. I run mine with a 5S pack and even on pavement if you yank full throttle from a complete stop it's very hard to control from all the wheel spin. As for durability it's built like a tank. Let me know what you think once you get yours.

here is something more useful about cleaning... When we have a race day here in town I have seen people bring water (which has a very small amount of laundry detergent in it) in a gallon jug or something and they put that into a bucket. After they warm their cars up or get done practicing with them they take the tires off the buggy and dip them in the water then quickly air them out with their air compressor. They dip the tires and some parts of the whole vehicle in it again and use a small brush to knock some dirt loose then use the air compressor to finish the job. This was probably the quickest and easiest way to clean your buggy on site! Imean they got them new looking in minutes! They used the brushes to help apply water close to the electronics then spray it off really quickly and nothing gets hurt. They do this all over their cars... Wish Ihad an air compressor! I am just using the water hose carefully and a tooth brush! Good luck

Thanks for the advice on the springs... Iwill probably get those soon. Iam mainly going to racing this on the track. Ihope the weight problem really isn't that bad. I have ordered 2 - 7.4v 40c 4000mah lipos. They should be here tomorrow. Ihave 2 - 11.1 20c 5000 lipos that Iam going to try out when Iget it later today. Iheard that using less than 25c isn't that bad it just wont run as fast as it should. Ifigure the 20c 11.1v dual lipos will still be stronger than the two 7.4 v 40c lipos. I will post some pics and videos over the weekend Iam sure. Ireally want to get a video of me running on the track with it. See if the weight is a big problem or not. Trying to get down to the mid 20's on laptime!

Another thing that I found out the hard way is that the Blur ESC LVC comes set at 3.0V per cell. You'll need a castle link to fix it thought. Kinda low for me I set mine to 3.5V which is high as it goes.

Gotcha. Thanks! Will running them down to 3.0v damage the Lipo? Or is it just close to the suggested limit?
