Need advice on 1/8th scale buggy

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to this hobby and am now wanting to get into it more. I need some advice on chosing my first buggy!! Here are some features I am looking for

-8th scale RTR electric
-I am looking for something super durable for bashing.....the stronger the better
-fairly fast
-looks sweet
-parts are fairly easily accesible
-low maintenence

also wondering is there are any completely waterproof buggies worth buying

Any advice would be very helpful on what car I should get with what battery set up and why

-thanks for any help

How much are you spending.

I pickup up a mugen mbx6 eco after owning several traxxas cars that would break if you looked at them too hard. I have since bash harder that I ever dared since march and have only lost one pin in the driveshaft because the grub screw backed out. The part was about $1.50. Other than that I've broken absolutely nothing and my bashing now consists of skate parks with huge jumps.

I can't speak for other buggies but the mugen has been incredible so far.

I have an Associated rc8.2e with a Tekin motor/esc which i would rebuy if i was still looking for a 1/8 buggy. To date i have bashed the hell out of it and haven't really broken anything just had to order some pins which came undone because not enough loktite (my fault).

For that kind of money maybe you could try the HPI 1/8 trophy buggy which i believe is about 450 RTR then you could pick up 4 sky lipos for it. A few people run them around were i live and they look pretty good. Maybe someone else could help better because everything i would recommend in 1/8 buggies is going to go for more than the 600 you have planned by the time you are done with everything.
I think i paid about 850 for kit and esc/motor combo and servo. You would still need a remote on top of that. Im sure there are cheaper out there but i really liked the associated
