1/8 motor comparison/difference

So the motor that came stock when I got my Ofna LX2e was a whopping 1800Kv motor. I want to upgrade for more top end, and to reduce the cogging. What would a difference be in speed, if I upgraded to a 2400Kv motor, and still ran the same gears/voltage (54 spur, 16t pinion, 4s)

Exactly what it appears to be, a relative 33% increase (600kv). Of course due to wind resistance increasing the faster you go, its not quite that linear, but its a good indicator. Similar case with pinions, add 50% more teeth, get an effective 50% top speed gain (in a perfect world).

Then there's efficiency to consider. A more efficient motor will make slightly more torque AND less heat, that's why people buy expensive motors. If you want my recommendation, get the MMM combo 2200kv. Some will say its an MT engine, I say 'great!' :) Anyway, the Castle/Neu 1515Y is a very efficient motor, MASSIVE power, won't get too hot in a buggy. It won't give a crap what pinion you run on it on 4S within reason...

The problem is the price of that motor. Pretty pricey on top of a larger pinion, connectors, and bullets. But I would love to get it!!

of course there's the hobbywing rout http://www.hobbypartz.com/07e-xerun-...lue-motor.html about a 40 dollar savings over the castle

tHE 1515Y IS $170. Hobbywing is $85. Just not sure on the quality lol

where are you looking? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CSE060-0004-...item4ac59acdd2 131.99 free shipping on ebay

Or you could get the HPI Tork (exact same motor), for 149.99 from amainhobbies, add a sticker set for 60 cents, activating the 12.50 discount, makes it about 138 bucks plus shipping.
