Need help on a Buggy Selection

Right at the point of throwing money towards a buggy. Not too much money but just enough to get a mid range machine.

Looked at the Ofna MBX Pro, dont like that is come with Airtronics gear, as I already have a Futaba Magnum with xtra receiver but still open to this as an option

Looked at Robshobbies, Sinyih product, nice price but know nothing about the product.

Looked at the Duratrax Axis, design is a bit thin for me.

Kyosho Infernos are too expensive.

Really like to know what folks think:

What car and why?

Pic of the 1/8 scale T5 Miss Bud I will be racing next season. Settling in for the Winter. Scratch built, not that store bought plastic knock off. 43"x 23" @ 15 lbs, Mac 67.......

why not just take out the radio gear, sell it and use the money to buy some you prefer?
or buy a kit with none in it from the start?

Those are good options, but what car and why?

Hot Bodies Lightning Pro, $350~ and you can install your radio, and it's an awesome car. The MBX Pro is almost on par with the Lightning and will be much easier to get parts since most local hobby stores carry OFNA, Hot Bodies is avaiable wherever they carry HPI I believe.

There's a sudden increasing number of members of this board becoming a Hyper 7 owner (including me!) and we all love it, just for a bit more you can get a Hyper 7 PBS which includes a kick ass motor and starter box (but has that Airtronics radio too) and is by far in my opinion the best value for dollar package.

RE: Need help on a Buggy Selection

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Hyper 7 puts me a few more clicks up on the price point? $200-$350 is right where I would like to end up. I have no plans on racing as in this area, they are stuck on 1/10 scale. Go Figure, I have a 1/5 Scale FG Mercedes Evolution for the road stuff.

thanks for the suggestions!! XXX

What about the GS Storm RTR? It's a little pricy, but it comes with a JR XR3 FM radio. Parts availability is great if you go through Horizon Hobby. Your LHS can carry parts for it because most hobbyshops order through Horizon anyway, or through distributers which closly work with Horizon.

Kuma is right though, the PBS is a kick ***** buggy and they even give you a starter box that is as equaly impressive as the buggy. I myself have a Mugen MBX 4 RR which I have no complaints with at all. It is a kit though and it sounds as if you're shooting for an RTR.

dont forget the XTM X-Terminator. Good solid buggy. $330-$350 RTR. Comes equipped with a .247 engine thats very powerful. Awesome for bashing, and it can be raced later if you desire. I may have a biased opinion, because I own one, but they are GREAT buggies.

There is an X-Term pro that comes with a lot of nice hopups, but it will push you out of you price range.

Thanks a million for all the inputs, it looks like the PBS is really the way to go. SO where can I find the best price on the PBS and where does everybody get their spare parts, tires ect????????????????????

RE: Need help on a Buggy Selection

Your best bet on the PBS is to get it on Ebay. You can usually pick them up for 420-430. If nothing shows on ebay, try RenegadeRC. They usually have some good deals on them. As for spares, Nitrohouse.com has the most parts for the PBS. For tires and stuff like that, either your LHS or Tower hobbies.
