want to get started please help
 

I have been flying model airplanes for about two years now and the local hobby shop is building a dirt track and I have try this. I am willing to spend in the area of 500 to 600 dollars and what is the best 1/8 buggy can I get ready to run. I want it to be fast!!!!!! And upgradeable. I was looking at the duratrax axis nitro 4wd, do I want a 4wd car? Please help me.

I would go with the Kyosho Inferno M.P. 7.5 sports rtr. Its fast and has plenty of power. Its fully upgradable to the Kanai II which is AWSOME. Its a great car and Kyosho has been around for ever. You wont be disappointed. Check out your local hobby shop and see what they carry, but dont buy an axis, My brother got one and he's had nothing but problems with it. If you plan on racing Kyosho is thr way to go they've been at the top of the racing game for years. You can get the RTR at www.towerhobbies.com for $449 well worth it.

Obviously, I own a PBS but my non-biased opinion is that the PBS would be a better buy than the 7.5 sports RTR. Now, if you throw some of the Kanai upgrades on the 7.5 Sports, the landscape changes pretty quiclky and I would give the nod to the Kyosho. I've been running with the Kyosho and Mugen boys at the track lately and I've noticed a couple things. Either the Kyosho's and the Mugens are just way better buggies than my PBS or, my driving is "just plain ol" sucks"! I'm betting it's my driving.

I can usually keep up with them for a couple turns, but unless I make ZERO mistakes, I'm toast. I still believe the "which is better" questions is not entirely fair. If I were to give one of the Kyosho guys my PBS and I were to drive his, he'd still beat the crap out of me, plain and simple. Go with what you like and learn to drive it. If you can do that, it doesn't matter if the guy next to you spent 2000,00 on his ride. If he can't drive it, you'll win every time.
