Tire problems

Ok I super glue all round and the bliters came free. Then I got some industrial adisive and during a top speed powerslide the outer two under the most presure broke free[X(] diging my shiny new rims in to the tarmac:( causing a big flip[:@] (no damage done though)[8D]...I have never come against such a week way of fitting tires to wheels . Is this my buggy (phaser 4) or do all buggy tires prove a problem?? And can I get tiighter fitting ones to stop this..? What do you use to glue yours?

RE: Tire problems

try sanding your rims alittle, if they have paint on them the glue wont work too well. Also if you wanna do alot of slides then find a really hard insert.

before glueing your wheels and tires clean them with denatured alcohol.the wheels and tires have a releasing agent on them so they will come out of the mold and glue doesn't like sticking to it.

Great suggestion - but so far here in the UK where he is, I can not find denatured alcohol myself.

I know tha sanding does help. wipe away any loose particles with some cleaner of some kind. They should not come unglued that easily.

Studysession,

Denatured Alcohol is the same as Methylated Spirits which you should be able to lay your hands on at any DIY store.

As someone from the UK now living in Houston Texas, I run into the whole English - English language barrier thing on a regular basis.

You can also try acetone, or nail varnish remover or Tamiya Acrylic paint thinner.

I have found it and a few other good items. Thanks.

Which part of the UK are you from?

Is it better to glue tires on wheels or to buy then ready glued?

Are the ready glued tougher? Do they come w/ foam inserts?

RE: Tire problems

Most ready glued have foam inserts. It is a prefrence to buy preglued or not.

If you buy preguled 8th buggy wheels, do yourself a favor and run another bead of CA around the joint on both sides. I've tried Medial Pro preglued and they were slinging off the rim. A quick zap of CA cured the problem. If the tread pattern you need is available pre glued, it's a no brainer.
