Engine cleaning
 

Hi,
I was wondering the best practices to clean the engine. I used to clean the engine after a race by dissamble all part and rinse it with warm water. Spray it with air compresor and build it again. (use dissable oil)
I Also try with WD40 but i dont like the smell of it.
Please advise the best way of cleaning the engine.

hmm i have never disasembled the actual engone for cleaning other than taking the head, pipe and exhust system off but i wouldnt use WD40 cause it has a habbit of attracting CRAP. there is another spray i cant think of the name of it that people tend to use i´m sure some one will post the name of it here!

If you think a silicon oil lubricant, i have already used it but i find warm water is still the best (at least for what i'm thinking off right now). As you say i hope somebody will give me a light on this...

Do not use a silicone lubricant in your engine. Silicone will not allow the lube oil in your fuel to stick to the internal parts so the silicone must first be washed away before you are getting any lubrication from your fuel. While this may not cause your engine to blow up or sieze, it will shorten the life of your bearings.
There is no need to open your engine up for cleaning after every race. If you race every week you don't even need to worry much about after run oil during the race season.

try using GT85 - its thinner then WD40! I use it on my car ;)

Ok Thanks for the tips, just tonight i knew whats going wrong if i "to much" cleaning the engine, 3 screw on the head are broken..
btw have you guys an idea how to remove the screw when the head of it already rounded. (its a hex head)
