RE: Pure Basher

The reason why I threw the Hot Bodies in there is because I can get it for $289 plus I was told it handles well and is tough..Is this the case?

RE: Pure Basher

I have the 9.5 MBX and I love it. I don't have an opinion on the engine though, because I bought mine used without an engine. The difference between the 9.5 MBX and the violater isn't much, but I say go with the MBX because of the suspension. PBS is much better than the violater kingpin.

G35Coupe 04-22-2004 01:40 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Really...THe violator has kingin suspension? *** IS THAT? But youd figure it would be alot more tougher whatever it is since Ive heard the violator is the tougher one. But I dunno..that MBX is looking mighty nice. Im soo confused! Any more advice?

RE: Pure Basher

hey G.... where do you get the Hot Bodies for that price?? i am looking for a buggy for my wife... and she'd like that one.

G35Coupe 04-22-2004 01:48 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Okay well it says the Violator has a Force .26 and the MBX has a Force .25. Whats up with that?

My GS STorm is very tough and it has only broken going beyond what 95% of RCers do to their vehicles. Like this: http://www.jacobmcdonald.com/rc-car/...tormathome.avi .

I busted the fuel tank doing a motox jump that faces off a cliff if you go off at an angle.

G35Coupe 04-22-2004 08:56 PM

RE: Pure Basher

So the 9.5 MBX is just as tough and durable and fast as the 9.5 Violator? What are the differences...nm ill go look at the ofna matrix.

Gsir8 04-22-2004 09:32 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Ok, mainly what I said in difference between MBX and Violater was the suspension, and in my opinion, MBX (Pivot Ball Suspension) is much better than the Violater's KingPin suspension.

G35Coupe 04-22-2004 09:56 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Okay..but can u elaborate on that? Why exactly do you think that the Pivot ball is better than the Kingpin? I've been doing nothing bending my front lower pivot balls on my PBS every time im at the track.

G35Coupe 04-22-2004 10:01 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Because if its better in the terms of tuneability I dont care..im bashing with it...but if the pivot ball is stronger than I might have to look somewhere else for a good basher buggy.

Gsir8 04-22-2004 10:07 PM

RE: Pure Basher

Well I have never bent a pivot ball, and I give it hell. I have heard that the Pivot Ball is better. That is just my opinion, pick whichever you like more.

RE: Pure Basher

g35-

you seem to be having major pivot ball problems. Are you sure you're screwing them all the way in? Maybe you're leaving too much hanging out, and that makes it easy to bend or something. I've never even seen a bent pivot ball at my track, and we have some big jumps.

G35Coupe 04-23-2004 12:44 AM

RE: Pure Basher

The thing is when I screw them all the way in the steering gets wayyyyy to tight and even my Airtronics 94359 cant turn em well. Thats a 200oz/in torque servo. I may have to mess with the suspension a bit more and figure this out However the first time I bent them it was straight out of the box, and onto the track.

Are you screwing in the pivot ball, or the pillow block (That thing that you screw in to adjust camber)? If maybe by accedent you are screwing in the pillow block, that would certianly lock down your steering if they are too tight. The thing you want to screw in is the ball, whick is behind the pillow block inside the steering knuckle (it usually requires a 3-32 size wrenchrather than the huge sized wrench used to adjust the pillow block; comsult your manuel or your LHS if you're still confused).:D

G35Coupe 04-23-2004 01:18 AM

RE: Pure Basher

No im definitely screwing in the pillow ball, not the block that goes on the outside of the ball with that requires the huge hex. I'll mess with it tomorrow and see how it goes.

jwren00 04-23-2004 11:38 AM

RE: Pure Basher

you want to have the balls in as far as you can, but not so far that the wheels can't travel all the way from side to side. If you screw them all the way in then you'll just lock up the steering, like you were saying.

cheep fast storng is ofna's new buggy the ultra comp only 300 with a force 26 in it and will hardly break i'm about to get one

RE: Pure Basher

i have heard a lot of good things about both of the ofna buggies mentioned. the pbs is nice for racing and adjustabillity and is pretty strong but it also needs more maintenance(kept clean). i think that the violator maybe a little heavier but if it's got the outlaw .26 in it , it's nothing but a torque monster made for bashing. the king pin history is a little vague yet but sounds like it holds up pretty good to a seriuos beating. you might try and get some more opinions on the ofna site about these 2 buggies. i also have a storm buggy but the rtr isn't worth the money(does come with jr radio and servos , though) since you'll end up buying all of the pro upgrades to make it somewhat bullet-proof. my$.02!

Actually the Violator has an off set KINGPIN suspension. It gives the Violator more turning ability because the wheels cans wing out further. It is VERY strong and easy to maintain. The Violator is also wider than most buggies. If it is only for bashing, this greatly helps stability in the turns. Most hometown tracks will still allow you to race with them anyway.
