Screw Kits??
Need a good recomendation for a as complete screw kit as possible for the Hyper 7 PCR. I keep losing screws and it's getting to be a pain locating one screw at a time. I looked at the RC Screws kit but it seems to be just the main chassy(?) screws. So far I've been losing screws like the spyder gear screw, and a 5x5 set screw, ect....probably not the normal everyday ones!![&o]

www.Hexcrews.com
They have high grade screw kits for most buggies, plus you can get most specialty screws from them also. Check em out and see if they can help you. |
RE: Screw Kits??

RE: Screw Kits??
go to hardcore racing .com they have bags of titanium screws for $10.00 titanium is the way to go
|
RE: Screw Kits??
hardcroreracing.com is a t-shirt and diecast website????[:o]
|
RE: Screw Kits??
hexcrews.com screws are about 47000PSI stronger than titanium screws. titainium is not stronger.
ive just ordered a set of screws for my storm pro, so I hope they are lighter than what I have now, instead of just stronger. |
RE: Screw Kits??
basher, if you spelled it like that then you probably ended up at the wrong site.
|
RE: Screw Kits??
nope spelled it wright....just went back and checked and went to t-shirt site....??
I punched in http://www.hardcoreracing.com/..... Obsidian let us know how the kit you ordered turns out. |

I just got the Hyper 7 screw kit from hexcrews.com and it is a great kit. I was impressed with them. If you need any help, email them. They will respond quickly and they know their stuff.

RE: Screw Kits??
Sibby, I know you're offline now, but where in Spring are you??? That's kinda like my old stomping grounds and stuff.
|
RE: Screw Kits??
hey sibby, are the screws lighter, and what color are they? I was just in my LHS today and saw a set of blue aluminum light weight screws for the storm (GS branded) for $63.99 CDN... I for some reason thought the hexcrews were orange in color. I hope they are, I want my buggy to look trick! :)
btw, when I get them I will tell you what I think too:) |
RE: Screw Kits??
Hexcrews are black. They are a steel alloy screw, nothing flashy. You want functional, not pretty...
Aluminum screws has to be one of the dumbest things ive ever seen... I understand for low yield areas without much stress they might be ok, but if you are racing an 1/8 scale buggy you need something a bit stronger. |
RE: Screw Kits??
hmm, well I hop I can tell them apart from the screws I already have..
|
RE: Screw Kits??
Sure you can tell, they are different, but still black...
They have little hardness markings on the heads of the screws, plus they are all fine thread, no coarse thread stuff. They come packaged nicely in individual baggies with the size printed on a label, very professional. www.hexcrews.com |
RE: Screw Kits??
I read on the hexcrews site that they do not have any self tapping screws. so does this mean I have to put those fine threaded screws into the plastic, or are there more aggressive non-tapping screws for that?
|
RE: Screw Kits??
Yea, you just screw the fine threaded ones into the plastic the same way you do the course, self tapping ones. They hold better due to the more threads-per-inch.
You dont need self tapping, the fine threaded ones work excellent... Plus if you have a hole that was previously used by a self tapping one, the fine threaded screw will easily hold in that hole. |
RE: Screw Kits??
i guess I might as well shut up and wait for my screws to arrive, but as long as we are on the topic, how easaly do you think those screws would strip the plastic?
btw, did you see the pictures of my storm in this forum? :) oh and your avatar is funny :D |
RE: Screw Kits??
They only strip if you overtighten them.
Yes, saw the storm pic. |
RE: Screw Kits??
I agree with Nitro Keeb. Aluminum is lite, but it syield strength is pretty low. It also does not stand up well to vibration fatigue.
Fourboltmain, I live off Sawdust. It is to bad you don't live around here anymore. I need someone to race. |
