Fuel Filter Mesh
Howdy,
here is a question for the gurus out there... was going through a check list on my "bought used" car...and when I looked in both fuel filters...there was no filter mesh in either... just curious...is there a mesh that can be bought to replace the original nitro fuel mesh...(the fuel filter body is a kyosho high cap fuel filter)...and do I need to be worried about nitromethane fuel eating through fuel filter meshes? thank you for the help... -Wolf-[8D] |
RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
That filter is useless with out that mesh inside. I dont think you can just buy the mesh part. Just buy a whole new filter, they only cost a few bucks tops. No the fuel will not eat thru the mesh.

RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
IT WAS NOT USELESS. PEOPLE PUT FILTER CASES ON THEIR TO EXTEND THIER RUN TIME FOR THOSE LONG A-MAINS (AS LONG THE TRACK ALLOWS IT).
|
RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
most good fuel tanks have this mesh anyway so anything that gets past that filter will get past the fuel filter one ;)

RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
great responses yall,
I will look at the tank today for its own mesh... and just one posing thought for you about rc parts...lets say that a simple part such as the filter mesh is missing...we are talking something that is worth a quarter at most...but to replace it you must buy an entire new filter assembly for $15 [X(]...does anyone find that ironic? have fun -Wolf- |

:eek:Supply and demand!
They will supply it and demand more money for it![sm=lol.gif] |
RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
You can easily buy just the mesh alone. Try to decipher what kind of mesh it is by using sites like this about wire cloth
http://www.bwire.com/about_wire_cloth.htm Then just order it. This won't cost you a ton, and can easily be done on your own without having to order a whole new filter. -J |
RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
when i get a filter, and before i even put it on, i open it up and take the "filter" part out. also Odonnell filters come with NO FILTER in them. also Hotbodies D8s dont even come with an external filter. 99% of the tanks come with a filter in the tank. i wouldnt worry about it especially since you bought it used, he must have done it for a reason. also when i first started i had to filters clog up and cause my engine to run very lean.

RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
my odonell filters came filter elements in them.

RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
the ones that came in the Z01B team 2-in-1 kit didnt have filter elements in them.

Sorry, jmakey 51 when I purchased my 2 in 1 kit, both my filters had elements in them. It could be a case of hit and miss.

RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
Hi NCARCTICWOLF, there should be a filter eliment in there but some people take them out and use extra fuel line and one or two of them fuel filters to encrease the volume of fuel onboard there buggy to get a bit more run time.
Even if your buggy has the filter in the fuel tank it cannt be a bad idea to put on an extra one especially if you like to race or bash in bad weather conditions or dusty tracks and mud bogs.:D |
RE: Fuel Filter Mesh
great planes makes small filters for about 2 bucks.
