yes

RE: A big question

i'm not a engine expert put i dont see why it would affect performance, but i'm sure you could send it back to the manufactuer, is it the O.S for youre sp1?

RE: A big question so ANSWER !!!!!!!

Dude CALL the manufacturer or your LHS, jesus. You ask 100 people on here and 50 will say its okay and 50 will say its crap.

RE: A big question so ANSWER !!!!!!!

There is only one guy at my LHS that knows anything about Rc´s so i would be more than glad if someone could say if i can start the engine or not the the scratch isnt big and it isnt deep you have too look really carefull if you are going to see it.

So should i be worried or not???

Plese answer i want to be able to drive my car

i seriusly doubt it would affect preformance although you may want to find out what made this little scratch if it was a piece of shratnel then deffently send it back.

RE: A question so please answer!!

Ok nah it just looks like it got that tiny schratch when they put the piston into the engine or something so i guess im a bit too careful.... the scratch is so tiny that you will need a strong flashlight too see it.

maxmod 07-17-2004 07:11 AM

RE: A question so please answer!!

oh ok then go run it.

Hi there M8

I would like to add something to this post. If you are not sure about the scrach and you must not have been sure as you put a post on here. I would take it in and have it checked as there mybe more to it than the 1 scrach that you can see. Is it worth blowing the Engine and taking it back and having to try and sort it out, or would it be better to take it back before you run it ?

madmaniac 07-17-2004 08:31 AM

RE: A question so please answer!!

hmm i saw a similar scratch on the cap where the glowplug goes in and it turned out to be oil that looked like an scratch maybe it is the same inside the engine maybe its just some oil that lays on the piston.

madmaniac 07-17-2004 08:54 AM

RE: A question so please answer!!

i checked again and the scrath isnt as big as it seemed to be its just in the middle of the piston and doesnt go out on the sides and BTW if i change engine i cant be shure that the new engine is better and besides my LHS wont take the engine back just for an little scrath,i asked the buggy guys at the track and they said that it was fine.

Personaly I would take the head off and check that the 2 Head shims are fitted (a 0.1mm Brass and a 0.3mm Aluminium) before you fire her up. If they aint then fit them they are needed to stop the piston slapping the head, But if they are there go for it and fire her up using the fuel you intend to run on. Dont bother running in on lower nitro content, this engine needs to be run on 25% for best performance. The Scratch sounds more like a mark from a screwdriver blade used to push the Piston down from TDC during manufacture. I've heard of them doing that before. Those dodgy Chineese.

madmaniac 07-17-2004 12:12 PM

RE: A question so please answer!!

Hmm the piston doesnt touch the head im sure about that because when it is on its highest spot i can still see openings on the side.

the fuel im using is a special fuel made here in Sweden at Masens kemiska it contains 16€ nitro and 18€ oil and our track is tricky so i dont need speed.

madmaniac 07-17-2004 12:13 PM

RE: A question so please answer!!

So i dont have to worry that the scratch is going to do any harm??

Da Smak 07-17-2004 12:14 PM

RE: A question so please answer!!

You may need to remove the 0.1mm shim for 16% Nitro. But it will run if you dont just not at full power so nit at full Torque which is what it sounds like you need.

madmaniac 07-17-2004 12:17 PM

RE: A question so please answer!!

K we will see how it runs and if it runs bad i will take the shim away but the manual says that with one shim in you should use 10-20% nitro

Da Smak 07-18-2004 12:18 AM

RE: A question so please answer!!

You said you were going to use 16% which is why I said that.

Also I dont think the scratch is anything to worry about.
