Fly wheel help!!!!

I took my buggy out today and it started fine. But then the engine cut out because there was no petrol left so I went to start it up but the piston had jammed right at the top I managed to get it free and pulled the pull start but the piston keeps locking after one pull

RE: Fly wheel help!!!!

I've seen some engines do that because of cylinder pinch when they're new. Does it free up on the top after the glow plug's removed? I'd would put a few drops of after run oil in the cylinder and add an extra washer under the glow plug to relieve some compression for a tank or two.We had to run our Mayhem for 2 tanks with the glow plug loose. It had the tightest pinch I'd ever seen.

That's the reason for break-in. Not enough pinch is bad...So is too much! Tight is good, but can be a pain till you get it broke-in.

If it still does it with the glow plug removed, I'd go to a rebuilder and have him look at it...Or wait for some of the "Old Salts" to find this thread and post a reply.

Grahama and GT350 where are you?

If it's new you may need to preheat it.

Pre-Heat that sucker to about 200 degrees and then give it a whirl. Also, a starter box will help you more than a pull starter will. A good box will turn over the tightest of motors when completely at room temp.
