RE: STS site

heres a review by Kendall Bennett on the STS Dragon .21 buggy motor.

"I spent most of the day today working on the engine and trying to get a
good race tune on it. The pipe that they sell (#403) really didn't work
all that well and the engine was lacking in bottom end. I tried an OFNA
086 and it was better with good top end, then I tried an OS T-2050 and
it was a lot better on the bottom end, but the top was lacking a little.
Finally I tried an OFNA 053 pipe and that really woke up the bottom end
of the engine and it seems to be the best pipe for it that I have found
so far (I think the JP-1 or JP-2 might be great, but a friend borrowed
my JP-1 so I can't test it). With the 053 pipe the engine wants to run
hot though, which is what I also found with my 421B with that same pipe.

At the end of the day I think the engine is a decent motor for the
price, but it is no P5 or OS V-Spec. It doesn't have the same low end
snap that a P5 has but does seem to have some decent top end. I tried
1.1mm springs but that really didn't make it work any better so I took
them off (I never like 1.1mm springs anyway).

I am hoping the engine is going to start running cooler as I get more
fuel through it (so far I have about half a gallon) and it breaks in,
and the performance will come up a bit. I plan to club race it for the
next few club races to see how it performs under pressure."

For the price I think it is an OK buy, but a Top P5 is a better motor
(then again I have never ran a stock P5, only the modifieds ;-).
