Tyre advice

I'm going to take my first race in my buggy life. I need some advice on tyre selection so as not to run out of my race budget by wrong trial. The race will be on a dusty, bumpy, tight, hard-packed track, that surface vary dramatically from place to place. I'm practicing with Pulsa from Medial Pro, fair play on jump and loose surface but lack of reaction on cornering and tend to off tracking on fast straight. I tried Raptor II as well. It performed better but worn out very soon that might not be able to sustain even a B main race. I checked couples being sounded good, Crime Fighter, Mugshot, Knuckles from Pro-line, Komodo Dragon, Chameleon from Panther seems good too. I know there is not the best and everything relies on driving technique and further chassis tuning as a result. So, please give me some advice. Thanks.

Try and get yourself down the track beforehand and see what the quick guys are using. You'll also get to see and ask about car set-ups too.

well i have almost every tire you listed. you can never have enough. when the conditions change -diff tires work better than others. a all around good tire is the crime fighters. now this wk. i couldnt get them to hook up and the PANTHER SWITCH tires work and i couldnt believe the traction. if you cant afford a few diff. ones id get the crime fighters for starters (medium). then just keep checking ebay for some deals on some other ones.

Thanks guys. Crime Fighter should then be better choice on my way. I saw some quick guys on my track using tires of similar spike. Actually, Mugshot is my most interested in cos it gives me the aggressive feel. Anyone has this experience? Another question is about I heard some guys telling to put soft tyre on hard rim or vice versa. Is this right the way of matching?

MassiveMods, it sounds interesting on hard front soft rear setting. I see straight forward to this about getting the right grip according to the load transfer at each condition. I'm less in this experience. Could you tell more?

Its been some time since anyone has discussed the subject of selecting the correct tire for the various conditions. As I'm new to racing and need to purchase a range of tire's. I'm looking for some advise on this subject. EG. what tire do you use for the following conditions;
1. dusty, bumpy, tight, SOFT packed track, that surface vary
2. dusty, bumpy, tight, HARD packed track, that surface vary
3. The ideal condition GOOD base med packed surface
4. sticky surface muddy

I guess that covers most conditions, if there are others please let me no ;)[sm=50_50.gif][sm=71_71.gif][sm=confused.gif]

this site under off road tires gives good info, after that it comes down to preference.

Proline bow ties where my latest purchase unfortunatley i only put a couple of laps down with them on a dusty hard packed track before the heavens opened and i went home, they felt better then the crimefighter i've just about always used but they where the m3 compound. crimefighter have always been abit "edgy" thats why most trim the outside tread of them to "calm" them down abit.
