OFNA BUGGY

Hi I saw Ultra Lx Comp RTR one and they are cheap!! good deal but do you guys know why is it so cheap? Is it just because its crappy? or just OFNA felt they need to lower the price?

RE: OFNA BUGGY

It's strategic marketing. Ofna is trying to market to every aspect of the r/c enthusiast as they can. That is why they have soo many different buggies. The newest LX Comp being there lower end of the spectrum is is geared more toward beginners and bashers- it's not really race ready out of the box with it's fuel tank, motor and suspension width. None of them are legal for sanctioned racing. Club racing however- you may want to check with your local club- they might allow it. As for durability- I can't comment on it as I haven't owned a LX Comp- but I could imagine it wouldn't be so great when taking into consideration all the corners they had to cut to give them away at that price.

RE: OFNA BUGGY

I am in Australia and I ordered from from ebay in the US and it arrived a few days ago. I had a few minor problems that turned out to be due to my lack of experience in RC. I am really pleased with the overall performance of the Force .26 engine, once it was broken it it never stalls, at least 95% of the time I get through a whole tank of fuel without it stalling once. I have had problems with the car not moving. The engine revs well but the car doesnt seem to want to engage properly. I leaned it out a fair bit and that fixed it. Then I was at one of the local tracks, which is a work in progress, and seeing as I am a novice in RC I had a few descent crashes, and once again the engine kept reving but the car stopped moving, I only realised when I started taking the car apart to check the diffs etc that I had also actually snapped the front/left dogbone axle. As yet I haven't fixed the car and i dont really know what is wrong, maybe it could be that the clutch bell and spur gear aren't meshing correctly or even some other gears? but the problem is that I cant get the engine mount hex screws out to remesh the gears as the hex screws were so tight that I ended up stripping hex shaped head on two of the four screws, so the engine is stuck where it is, so if it is a meshing problem, I am stuffed. I was so happy with the car for about a day after I leaned it out and it started to run really well, I took it to the track and was having a great time, I was so glad that i chose this car, BUT after this last problem I am at my limit of frustration because I am running low on cash because I spent a huge amount of money on a list of hop-ups as long as my arm for my Inferno MP7.5 Sports RTR and heaps of other stuff, also the local hobby stores dont stock the parts specifically for the Ultra Comp, they have the Hyper 7 and all its parts (I wonder if any of them would fit) ALSO the local hobby stores dont want aything to do with me because i didnt buy my cars from them, ITS REDICULOUS I spend money at their shop on parts and accessories, at one of them i have spent over $200 in the last week or two. I baught my carbrand new in box from ebay in the US so I dont know what I could do about warranty or help, I am in Australia and postage costs alone would kill me.
Anyway, I think that i have just had a run of bad luck with this car, and I am probably a contributing factor, The problems that I have encountered would be easily fixed by someone who has some support or knows a bit themselves I mean, I thin k it is just a couple of tight, and now stripped screws that has stopped me from fixing the major problem with the car and that is what makes it so frustrating!! The car is really a dream to drive, once you have replaced the steering servo, it is tough, the engine performs really well and is ectremely reliable, I would still recommend this car.

great buggy, I love mine is a great basher really fast and handles great, you will need a better steering servo though the stock one just isnt enough. While you cant race sanction you can bash and race club and do well, I surprise people with mine and Its all stock. Getting a new cooling head and hi end pipe cause its got a ton of torque and I want just a little more speed for the circle track we have. I have have pics if interested of bashing and racing. Great buggie though

whats the difference between lx comp and lx pro?

Engrose 12-21-2004 05:34 AM

RE: OFNA BUGGY

The difference between these two can be seen on Ofna's homepage.

I have the lx pro and it has taken some serious beating! The only things broken are a spur gear (plastic) and a brake disc!
Other than that I damaged the standard servo when I hit a rock that was bigger than the buggy with nearly full speed. But that was a good excuse to get a better servo.

I've bought a lx comp, but haven't tried it yet since it came without engine and radio.

I love mine. I put in a JR XR3i radio in it and just love it. No problems at all and it is a joy to drive. It just needs a NiMh reciever pack to be just about perfect. I am thinking of getting a new electric RC truck so I can bash around with my boys and I might be selling it.

I read about this in your other post. I do not think there is a problem with your gear mesh. It is the broken axle that is probably causing problems. It could have occured during one of your hard crashes.

will the lx pro can use lx comp parts?i have a lx pro which hop ups or stock parts other than the one for lx pro can fit it ?can their parts be interchangeable?

RE: OFNA BUGGY

I have a LX pro converted to MBX pro (full pivot ball suspension) and I have now converted to a lx comp chassis so I can use a larger fuel tank and lay-down radio tray. The diffs are all the same and the main difference on the LX comp over the LX pro is it uses Ofna violator suspension (wider). Hope this helps. I'll take pics of mine when it's complete

pcol2480, you have identified your reving but no go problem...it is the broken front driveaxle....i have a LX comp and have broken the front driveaxle...the car will rev as you describe, but due to the properties of "open" differentials, the majority of the power is being transmitted to your front axle that is broken....replace the axle and then have fun bashing the LX comp...i do...<G>
