What does adjusting ackerman do for your steering.

RE: Ackerman
It allows your tires to have different radiuses during a turn. Since your inside wheel and tire have a sharper turn, they will turn more than the outside tire, which has less of a radius. The trick is that this has to apply no matter which direction you turn. There is information available on this using Google or Yahoo since it certainly applies to real cars as much as our model cars.

RE: Ackerman
I'm sure it has some effect.I use which ever hole lines up the steering rods the straightest with the wheels turned straight ahead?Works for me.

RE: Ackerman
this is right out of my XB8 manual-
forward holes= steeper angle= smoothens out steering response, car reacts smoothly, better suited to smoothe flowing tracks w/ high speed corners. rearward holes=shallower angle= quickens initial steering response, car reacts faster to steering input, better suited to small tight tracks. |
