--THE-- perfect setup
I just bought a buggy for the first time, and i was hoping you guys could tell me all the tricks or ways to get the setup just perfect. Incase it helps, the engine is a .21 Vertex engine. Thank you very much

RE: --THE-- perfect setup
The best way to accomplish the perfect setup is to only make one change between runs, see how it affects the car, note it down and then try something else.

RE: --THE-- perfect setup
sorry, im spanish and i did not quite mean setup, i meant when the engine is new, dont you have to get it running in a special way or something so that all its strength is conserved? that is what i meant by setup

RE: --THE-- perfect setup
Below is how novarossi recommends breaking in motors. Some people do the "idle 2-3 tanks" before actually driving the car, but idling your car at a super rich setting is doing nothing for heat cycling the internal engine components IMO.
Engine Starting: Fill the fuel tank and "dry-start" the engine for about 5 seconds with the carburetor in the idle position without attaching the glow plug igniter. This allows the fuel to reach the engine. Then attach the glow plug igniter and the engine should start immediately. If the engine does not "fire-up" immediately, check the fuel line to make sure that fuel is reaching the carburetor. If fuel is not reaching the carburetor, remove the glow plug igniter, cover the exhaust tailpipe and try "dry-starting" the engine for about 3 seconds. This will build extra pressure in the fuel line to the fuel tank causing the fuel to be pushed to the carburetor. Attach the glow plug igniter and start the engine. Once the engine has started, apply a small amount of throttle and allow engine to warm up to operating temperature. Engine Break-in Procedure A Nitro-powered engine requires a careful "Break-in" procedure in order to allow the internal parts of the engine to achieve proper operating clearances. Improper "Break-in" will greatly diminish the performance and life of your engine. Enrich the fuel mixture from the factory position by turning the main needle 1/2 a turn counter-clockwise. Run your car, truck etc. up to 1/2 speed (at most) using moderate acceleration. Do this for 4-5 tanks of fuel. On the next 3 tanks of fuel, slowly increase the speed and acceleration and start leaning the main needle setting by turning the needle clockwise. Maintenance: A Novarossi engine requires little maintenance as long as the engine does not overheat and the proper fuel and air filters are used. After each use: Dry up any fuel that may remain inside the engine. After the engine has cooled, wash it using a mixture of petrol and 10% oil. Clean or replace air filter if necessary. Add a high grade "after run" oil into the engine to avoid any internal corrosion that may occur. |

you may want to add just a squirt of extra EDL oil to your fuel while running in your engine;)
if you can't get EDL then just add some pure castor! |
