compression

Hey,

I recently bought a car from ebay. When i got sent the car i took it over to the hobby shop and they said that all 3 engines i got with it were blown. It came with a chipolla(italy imported) .21, a GS .21, and a Omega .21. They told me that all 3 engines compression was abd. I felt them on other engines and they seemed right because i felt how the engines compression should feel. Although, when i asked the guy why he sold me 3 bad engines with bad compression he told me that there was nothing wrong with them. He told me the fact that they arent performance engines means they have less compression. You are the onyl one I can turn to without a byaist opionion and I need your help. Is the hobby shop people just running performance engines and they want me to buy one. Or is the seller on ebay shafting me. The compression feels a little resistant althought the guy at the hobbys shop told me I should have to struggle to push it over. Plz help me you guys are maybe the only one that can be honest to me.

start them up and run them. if they are pulling strong holding a tune and running then there isnt a problem. if they dont run or perform very crappy then chances are they are blown.

do as powder king suggests...

Many hobby stores will slate an ebay purchase just because they can..

if they hold that tune and rip run the life out of them... and if you can take a shim out to get that little extra out of then then do that. just take the head off and see if there is a thin shim and check your clearance w/out it in there and it will have a huge diff on the preformance.

Most hobby shops will tell you that you need this and that, just so they can make money.. chances are the engines are fine.. if not, take them apart, clean them, then rebuild it and try again.. otherwise buy a new piston and sleeve... my local hobby shops always try and sell me something i dont need, but i just laugh cause i know that i know more than they do about certain stuff...lol...

anyways, i hope you get the engines running..most of my engines have quite a bit of compression, but my friend has a traxxas nitro sport, and you can practically start it with one finger.. no compression, and it runs amazing...
