Engines

There are alot of forums out there that are asking what engine has the most power and that is the best. I am wondering from the engines that you guys are all running out there which ones are lasting the longest. If they are taken good care of and such, which engine has the best power to longest lasting ratio.

RE: Engines

hi there, i have 2 engines i really like at the moment, The Rex P5 and the CMB EVO2 R Raptor.. The Rex has insane bottom end and reliability and the CMB has more top end than i know what to do with.. The P5 has lasted me 12 litres so far and i still cant turn it over by hand. The longevity of most engines come down to 2 or 3 things IMO. Quality, Cooling and Fuel. Quality to begin with, Good Cooling will ensure engine life and good fuel will keep an engine happy.. Engine life will be enhanced by tuning to your conditions... if you tune for short tracks you can afford to tune a little leaner on the top as opposed to long tracks where you would rev high and run sa little richer ...

RE: Engines

Dont forget, Changing your air filter regularly. I change mine every time I run it. Throw the old one away- oil up a new one and slap it on. Dual stage filters are the ticket as well- and oil both inner and outer foams.

RE: Engines

What pipe and clutch setup are you using with your P5?

I use the stock Kyosho clutch on my P5's. 1.0 springs or .9 springs with aluminum shoes and 13 or 14tooth bell. Novarossi 9886 pipe.

RE: Engines

Think V-spec too, some here will disagree but many people run this engine and love it. I find it extremely reliable, excellent fuel consumption(has one of the best on the market),and has more power than anyone could need, and it lasts long too. And yes, i would take it over a p5. Dont get me wrong the p5 is good but the when i get over 9 mins on my v-spec im always happy :P(and thats not lean).
