RE: why mbx 5 prospec

In my opinion, I say "yes" If you went to buy the parts separate it would cost you more money, and if your going to race, you'll end up upgrading anyway! People will tell you to get the MBX5 standard, and get the king headz kit which is around $220. The Prospec has more items then the King Headz Kit. Even though ther are some parts that the king headz kit has that the prospec doesn't.

The King Headz kit consist of:
Complete set consists of :
(1) KP-500 – Steering Ackerman
(1) KP-510 - Extended Motor Mounts (pair)
(1) KP-530 – Rear Torque Arm Mount
(1) KP-540 – Front Shock Tower
(1) KP-550 – Rear Shock Tower
(1) KP-560 – Front Torque Arm
(1) KP-570 – Rear Torque Arm
(1) KP-580 – Front Lower Suspension Plate
(1) KP-590 – Rear Arm Mount Set (1°- 2°- 3°)

The Prospec:
PROSPEC STANDARD PARTS

E0117 Titanium Rear Upper Arm
E0118 Rear Lower Arm Support (5mm)
E0119 Front Lower Arm Support (4mm)
E0120 Al. Front Tension Rod
E0121 Al. Rear Tension Rod
E0123 Lower Arm Shaft
E0124 Rear Lower Arm Shaft
E0126 Al. Rear Upright R/L
E0311 Servo Saver Plate (5mm)
E0503 Front Damper Stay (5mm)

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

just get the regular mbx5. Very good buggy. I race mine often and have only broken two or three parts over a year and a half of racing with it. you don't need the prospec to race.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

no you dont ! i got the reg but i bought the kings kit but really you dont need it. the only thing you might want are the towers and braces? other than that its just bling factor or weight. and remember the kings aluminum is stronger than the prospecs.

You will be making a mistake if you don't go ahead and spend the extra money on the Prospec. That Prospec price is dirt cheap considering all of the options.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

Well, my heads spinning now!!! ;)

I used to race 1/10th electric buggies, and 1/10th Touring at the UK BRCA Nationals about 10 years ago, but have now decided to take up the hobby again, but with 1/8 Nitro.

So, do I go for the Jammin (Hong Nor) X1 Cr Pro, or an MBX5 Prospec? Can anyone here give me some inspiration as to which I should get, and why?

Thanks,

Mike.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

X1 and X5 both are same kind of rc car, buggy:D

Check out the particular thread for more about X5 here. X5 Prospec prices 1/3 more of X1 here [&o] for everything tough enough to take any challenge. Someone will mention X5 as a tank and its motion is like a tank too, no twisty. X5 is probably a buggy for any level and handy to dial and easy to get in, since it is pin ball steering. Assembling an X5 is a mechanic's job, proper tools are a must although it comes with a set of hex keys (keep the wrench safe provided together with the kit, it has the name on:D).

there are couples of X1 pro running on my local without significant problem, the only one is about the damper that need care. It performs like 777 over cornering and jumping, a bit twisty but acceptable to experiened driver. It is called pro but there are options to make it more pro.

I will finish the coming race with my X5 Prospec then get an X1 for next race season if Kyosho break their mouth about the SP2.:D

Prospec. Stiffer shock mounts, one piece engine mount and all other parts make it a good deal. Shop[ around for a cheaper one or get a regular MBX-5 and upgrade as you break.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

i got the reg mbx5 for $405 on bay. really i know you all talk -"get the prospec" but i visit the grid often and there are many pros that race there and they all told me get the reg. the only reason i got the kings kit is cause i traded a ws7 for all of it. really the chassis could use a little more flex so the reg braces would allow that. id just get seated in the reg and go race. carolinas r/c has the new diff o-rings and the k-factory hinge pins to make it the ultimate r/c for racing. the pins have no e-clips and the rings are so the diffs wont leak.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

my regular braces work great. the upgrades aren't necessary. The regular engine mount works great, the $50 one-piece is not necessary. As previously mentioned, I would recommend getting the standard mbx5 and upgrading the shock towers if you want and get the bigger diff orings - that's it.

RE: why mbx 5 prospec

Well, if you are going to get the regular MBX5 for let's say a street average price of $500 and then you get the prospec shock mounts, it's going to cost you an extra $85. So now you've spent $585.00 then you decide you want the titanium turnbuckles and the one piece motor mount (People will tell you, you don't need it and you really don't need it but it is a big convenience to have) you add on another $90.00 your up to a cost of a new prospec! You can get the Prospec for $699 plus $6 shipping from www.southeastrc.com

You got to look at the total cost! If you think you will do some of the prospec upgrades after you get the regular mbx5, you'll end up spending more money!

I just went thourgh what you are going through now, and all I can say is "I'm glad I purchased the Prospec!"
