Hey, the master needle or HSN is the big needle near the air filter. 3 turns out means turn the HSN clockwise until it's flush and u can't turn it anymore. Don't turn it too tight. From there u want to go counterclockwise 3 full turns out. Usually, the engine is already set at factory settings but i like to make sure and set it again.. good luck

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
hmm i dont think it was set from factory cause it took like 7 turns to the right to close it so 3 turns left from close will be really rich?
|
RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
Yes it will be plenty rich. You are turning the needle a full 360 degrees and counting that as 1 turn right?
|
RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
yes ill do that now thanks

turn the screw to the right lightly till it bottoms out...thats the closed/seated position...Turn the HSN 4 complete turns to the left from the seated/ closed position. start engine...adjust the other screw on the side...the LSN...so the engine smokes heavily and and spits fuel out. Idle 1 tank of fuel...2nd tank, start to give it a little throttle driving in a figure 8 or something. don't hold it open, vary from idle to just above idle.. 3rd tank same thing but a little more throttle... 4th tank, adjust the HSN 1/8 turn to the right and more throttle. every tank thereafter...adjust the HSN to the right in 1/8th turn increments till you find the sweet spot, if you go to far...it will be too lean and will cut out on a full throttle blast. once you find the spot, run with it. then go back to the LSN and fine tune to a nice idle. that should work out great for ya'.;)

by the way... you might want to loosen the brass HSN housing where the fuel nipple is and rotate the nipple upward to eliminate that wicked bend in the line.

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
you'll have to trim the hose back when you do that

Just to be sure:

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
yeah, you can do that but I'd rather take a little hose out and make it clean and neat.. and If you question about fuel volume and run time...you can add an extra fuel filter if your worried about it. I dont like excess hose but thats just me...:)

Follow the break-in instructions that came with the engine, if it says back the needle out 3 turns back it out 3 turns!

ok this makes me feel like a total newb but ofna's manual is really lame doesnt tell you anything anyways how do i get to the receiver box to put in the rechargables i have? heres a pic

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
3 turns might not be rich enough for proper break-in so I would go the 4 and work from there. 3 turns might be a good running point but not for proper break-in.. Also, you want to heat cycle the engine during break-in. let the engine cool completely before the next tank of fuel. And if you want the engine to last a really long time...pre-heat it with a hair dryer every time you start it cold.. it takes extra time but its worth it... 97% of engine wear is when the engine is cold..anything you can do to prevent cold start-up really prolongs the life of these engines. I have a gallon through my Ws7II and shes still has pinch like new..

If you unscrew the 4 screws on top...the lid should come off
|
RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
yea ill go with 3 1/2 turns cause manual says 3 - 3 1/2 turns for breakin

What you have pointed to and called the LSN is in fact the MSN. The LSN is on the other side of the carb inside the sliding section. |

no think he was right dont think this engine has a middle setting check this pdf
[link=http://www.ofna.com/pdf/eng-force25-26.pdf]Manual[/link] says part #52220 is low end needle and thats the big one on end |
RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
I stand corrected if that is the carb which is fitted. Just that my Force 25 has a 3 needle carb.

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
mine came with force 26 motor

RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
Make sure to oil your air filter also.
|
RE: Need help with engine breakin please read
That would be a good idea. Getting an outer filter will also help to protect the engine.
Instead of the rechargeables, you should get a 6V humppack. The AA's are a nearly sure way to get a runaway at some point. |
