Where is Traxxas
Hey, I was wondering if Traxxas will ever make a 1/8 buggy, car, or truck. If they do, do you think the TRX 2.5 would be in it?
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
i doubt anyone would buy it.
no, they probably wouldn't put the trx2.5 in it, because it is too weak to power such a large beast. who knows? they may be making it right now. |
RE: Where is Traxxas
why wouldn't anyone buy it, they have one of the top 1/10 truck, they have the fastest studiam truck, and they have one of the fastest 1/10 car, and they are all cheap compared to the others?

RE: Where is Traxxas
Have you noticed that other brands (associated, losi, kyosho etc) are more interested in their vehicles on track performance? Not just their straight line speed?
Traxxas is only interested in enticing newbies with cash into making them rich... |

RE: Where is Traxxas
most buggys have a 3.5cc or bigger engine the trx 2.5 is a 2.5cc engine, it would have no power for the weight and size of a buggy, traxxas is just expensive for what it is and it comes with no extras everything is made of plastic and nothing is adjustable!

RE: Where is Traxxas
Buggy only good for racing yeah right the also make excellent bashers as well
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
buggies are fun to bash cause they're so tough
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
I said that above
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
not really. you just said they were good bashers. i seconded it and said why
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
great you want a sticker
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
LOL
and did i mention buggies are fun to bash because they're so tough and if the offer is still on the table, ill take a sticker |
RE: Where is Traxxas
First they need to learn to make kits! :D
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
Amen too kits
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
Buggies are tough but they aren't as good for bashing mainly because of narrow tires and low ground clearance. Of corse they are pretty much the toughest thing out there but MTs handle rough terrain a whole lot better. 1/8 buggies were purpose built for racing ofna just made a oversized line of buggies of which most are made for bashing with very low quality stuff in them... mainly drive tran parts, engines and electronics.
Everything about 1/8 buggies says racing about them. Center diff to put the power where you want it, caster, camber toe, shock position, anti-squat, wing, tons of roll center adjustments, low COG, chassis/suspension design in general. Untill ofna starting making buggies out the ***** they were always pure bred racers. |

RE: Where is Traxxas
First of all the Jato is an absolute turd around the track when compared to a losi or AE set up to race.Second whats so revolutionary about the revo many vehicles(even MTs) have had a pushrod and rocker setup. Also its not the all mighty super handler most people say it is, you can pound an lst around a track allot harder without worrying about rolling it.too many people have this idea that traxxas is the holy grail of rc because its all they have ever owned.with the exception of the revo everything they sell is dead last in there class when it comes to track performance and reliability
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
The revo is a lot lighter and more nimble than an LST also more responcive to adjustments in the air. The difference with revos push rod suspension and the ones before it is the revo's actually works well. Last big race I was at the only sposored driver there and his mechanic were racing a revo... they do nothing but race and take it very seriously and they would not be running one if it sucked.
I have a xxx-nt and see what they do setup from great drivers. The jato didn't lack anything on control or responce going into, through, or out of the corners as long as you get rid of the crap stock tires. The weight is moved a little more towards the front of the truck actually making its handling more predicable unlike other STs if you hit something in a slid the rear is catching it and you get spun quick. The jato was much more balanced when it jumped and it wasn't as sensitive to the lip of a jump or where you were on the throttle when you were coming off the jump compaired to other STs. Theres always more room for adjustments aswell of which traxxas sells every sping rate you'll need for it, you can always change shock oil, shock position, change where the battery pack sits, differential settings, and of corse the biggest part to any setup is the tires. I have driven a stock jato with proline edge tires on front and snake eyes in rear that fit the track perfectly and against my setup xxx-nt the jato wasn't any slower aside from a very slight disadvantage out of the corners (more weight to the front means less traction to the rear but that can bet changed with suspension settings) because you can only push 2wd STs so hard and the 1.8hp of the trx 2.5 and the 2 speed don't do much good unless your on a huge wide open track but it was more comfortable for me to drive. Alot of people have been having problems with the trx 2.5... I never did... but they really do need to put a better head on there to keep that motor cooler. For the record I never owned a traxxas to race it I only have a T-Maxx with a mach .26 conversion kit for bashing and a nitro ruslter 2.5 for bashing. The only reason why traxxas isn't up there racing is because of people like you who refuse to run them and the jato not being race legal... like i said before ifmar and roar need to open a new class for STs anyway because every other class has atleast stock and unlimited besides ST. Traxxas doesn't seem like they care much about racing either way if they did they would have sponsored drivers everywhere running their stuff at big events. |
RE: Where is Traxxas
I dont refuse to run traxxas check the sig.i actually run a revo
I just dont like the image portrayed that traxxas is the absolute best, on the same token those savage all the way guys make me laugh just as hard.I guess what Im saying is there are people out there who will only run one companies product and they are so fiercely defensive of that brand they will not run anything else even if its a much lower quality product. The jato with me just seemd to either push or fishtale on power, it wasnt mine so I didnt want to do any setup changes it just never felt as punchy or planted as a xxx-nt. If traxxas got into the buggy market i couldn't see them as anything but a me too product |
RE: Where is Traxxas
watch traxxas blow away the buggie market by introducing a buggie based on revo suspension..............talk about low cg. it could happen........not likely, but it could happen. the biggest prob i see with traxxas offering a buggie is that they do not make big blocks. that means that they would either a. spend a ton of money trying to design a .21 based on the design of the trx 2.5. (which would prob sport the same tuneability probs as the 2.5) or b. have to buy the engines from someone else. either way you look at it i don't think that they could produce a competitive buggie that would be in the same price range os some of the other "entry level" buggies and there for would prob. go down in the books as a flop.
guess we'll just have to team up and flood there e-mail with requests for a revo based (roar legal) 1/8 scale buggie.............and wait to see if they will accually do it. |
RE: Where is Traxxas
I hope that Traxxas does make a 1/8th scale buggy. It would be nice to see a big motor from them. Personaly I like the 2.5. I still have it in my Maxx and Rusty. I pulled it out of my Jato as I wanted to go with a race legal .12. I like Traxxas products and love there customer support. They seem to be going back in to the race market. There are more revo sponsered drivers now and Steve S. is doing better with his Jato.

RE: Where is Traxxas
the jato sucks for hooking up we had a guy out our local track we tried for one hole day trying to set it up like we tried every thing shocks shock oil, springs tyers graer ratios and it just woulnd hook up
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
Mine hooks up great
|
RE: Where is Traxxas
nitro666 - tell that guy to check out the Jato set up sheet by Steve S. over at Traxxas.com.
Back to the subject. I am very surprised that Traxxas has not jumped in to the 1/8th scale buggy or mini craze. Maybe they are just hiding stuff under there sleeve... |
