ORIGINAL: Flatland2D About how much would it cost to convert the TQ to PBS? Can it be done? 19100- FULL CONVERSION KIT (STOCK) - $89.95 To go the other way, PBS to C-HUB, there is no kit. You have to buy everything individually (top half of post below): http://p202.ezboard.com/fofnaracingn...cID=2661.topic My buddy has a C-Hub Hyper. He has never broken a hub, and he doesn't have the CNC ones. Our track doesn't have boards though. But through the course of normal crashes (and some bigger ones), nothing bad has happened. Keep in mind that C-Hub is also a zero maintenance setup. You don't need to worry about periodically cleaning the pivot balls to ensure proper operation. If you really are unsure, think about getting a Hyper PCR Pro. Yeah the cost seems more up front, but you get way better parts, and the car comes with both types of suspesion (install whichever you want, or mix and match). ORIGINAL: Flatland2D I bash pretty hard. Most of the abuse is in the jumps, though my Rustler can take 20ft jumps with a bad landing pretty well. Eventually something will break though. I'm sure if I got a buggy I'd soon confuse it with a plane a try to fly with it. I've seen them do pretty crazy jumps from some videos I've downloaded. Durability is key for me. I would like to get into the racing scene (not professionally) since I just found an off-road track in my city. I'm pretty good at not hitting things at full throttle except for ramps. Just saw the PBS conversion at nitrohouse: $89.95. Kind of expensive to me. I'm guessing CNC C-hubs are up in that range, too. Anyone know for sure? The CNC C-Hubs are 50.96 and the CNC knuckles are 55.21. Compared to the stock ones plastic Hub (19036) 8.46 and knuckles (19032) 12.71. So you can buy one hell of alot of spares before you would meet the cost of putting the CNC on there. In fact, you would have to break 6 pairs (or 12 individual) c-hubs, and 4 pairs (or 8 individual) knuckles. Unless your idea of bashing is drop kicking your car off of high rise buildings on a regular basis, I think that makes the investment in CNC pretty much useless. None the less, here is a list of all the bling bling from PCR for a Hyper (and prices): http://www.nitrohouse.com/options,_hyper_7.htm |
RE: Forget previous post!
That's good to hear about the C-hubs. I won't upgrade until it (if ever) becomes a hassle.
So'd I'd need both the CNC C-hubs and CNC knuckles to really strengthen it up? That's pretty pricey. Cheap replacements are fine with me. My Rustler going head on at a buggy would probably just jump right over it since it has increased ground clearance for a stadium truck. But I get your point. Rustlers are pretty stinkin' tough though. But you do have to drive it smart to not break all the little things. I've been doing plenty of jumps as of lately (can't remember if I even landed a single one right side up) and haven't broken anything. That's what lead me to get one over anything else for my first R/C. Couldn't imagine driving anything less durable on a regular basis. Broken parts make me mad. My TC3 is a pansy when it comes to taking a hit. That's why I like drifting so much. Don't think I've ever broken a part while drifting. Thanks again for the advice. |

I had not thought of the plastic one at all for some reason. |
RE: Forget previous post!
That price was for the cast aluminum knuckles and plastic c-hubs. I don't believe there is such a thing as a plastic knuckle or a cast aluminum c-hub. In either case, I have not seen the issue of breaking the cast aluminum knuckles with my buddy's Hyper. Again, our track has no boards though.

RE: Forget previous post!
i've seen it three times, but they were big hits from first time drivers. two times it was with in the first tank on the track, poor *******s, but they'll learn pretty quick. $12.71 for cast knuckes, not that bad. Once again they were big hits, but i'll expect my pbs pro would on driven of no problems. but once again these cars are tough.
