Stick to normal clutch shoes.
I have mine on my hyper 7(the stock ones) for over 8 months now and the wear on them is just fine.Still lots of "food"!!
Aluminum offer stronger bite and longer wear but do wear the clutch bell too!
If you don't race and need perfect tuned clutch, stick to what you've got!

Kick ass!! You got it to work. The clutch setup I always recommend is Mugen aluminum shoes and Mugen 1.0 springs. The brand of aluminum shoes doesn't really matter much (OFNA's worked just as well), but I have had better luck finding Mugen shoes cheap when I shop around. I have run composite shoes, and I find that they wear out much faster than my aluminum ones. Yet, I haven't really had to replace a clutch bell because of the shoes wearing it out. Only because the teeth wore down.

I prefer Aluminum shoes too. I've ran carbon shoes for a long time, until I tried Aluminum ones. Now I'm using the stock Kyosho shoes and springs and that combo works good.
I have only seen Kyosho ones for $18-$22 but I'm not sure which ones are the cheapest as I have yet to purchase or compared them. I've gotten them in a trade or with a kit..lol.

I have yet to replace my aluminum shoes. I sold off my last ones with my Hyper and the stock ones I'm using now are 4 months old and about 2.5 gallons of Nitro.
As far as maintenance, I usually takethem off after every other race and file down the burs or sharp edges and that's it.

Im running aluminum shoes on my Xray and they have about a gallon of fuel on them and still looks great. You have to keep them up by cleaning the shoes with denatured alcohol and sanding the bell with fine sandpaper every quarter of a gallon or so. Aluminum has better bite than carbon. A lot of people claim that aluminum shoes get hot, but its the carbon shoes that discolors the clutch bell from all the slippage.

Been told, don't know if it's 100% true, But been told to only run alum. shoe with a clutch bell that has only run alum. shoes
as in
if you change from comp. to alum. with the same bell the alum. shoes will wear quicker than normal and slip more than normal causin gextra heat

I had done this a while back and the alum. shoes wore out in a matter of maybe 10 tanks of fuel in addition to that I had about 3 clutch springs break. It was making me nuts.

running comp. now next time I try alum, it will be with a brand new bell

I personally don't like the Alu shoes. The stock Kyosho shoes wear down in no-time. I am only using black-teflon/carbon shoes now. They hold up well and I like the slip they have. Makes it easy to control the car.
