RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
a buggy is slightly quicker but the rest is owned by truggies, the best truggy out there is the MSR.

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
Big wheeled mutants...pah!
The best buggy in the world is my XB8R, it does 95mph, I've jumped it over the empire state building, and only cracked the front bumper. Sorry, so bored of fastest, strongest, best, blah blah... Jammin is better than the hot bodies by the way. Don't know about as a truggy though, wouldn't touch big wheels with a long stick. Isn't it funny how the serious manufacturers haven't produced truggies? Kyosho, Mugen, XRay...wonder what they're trying to tell us. I may be wrong of course, but isn't the MSR kit actually not made by mugen? And the same for the 777 truggy (ie not made by Kyosho)? I guess I'm just a purist. |
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
We had someone build a SP1 into the MSR truggy conversion kit. It ran great but it couldn't quite match the speed and handling of a buggy. He broke/bent a few thing on it as well and I think those big heavy tires are to blame. Pretty much all of the crashs the truck took weren't as bad as what the buggies can handle either. He broke a tie rod end and bent the steering rack.
For speed I'll judge this on how the pros are doing because you really can't get any faster then they are going. I think the pro truggy lap times are about 0.5 to 1 second slower than pro buggy times. How these things jump is all on the line you take and your suspension setup so you can really say one is "better." The truggy will have more responce to throttle and brake in the air though because of the bigger tires. |

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
your right the MSR X5T is not a mugen made conversion, but im a ST guy from way back (ok only 3-4 years) so id get the MSR conversion for my MBX 5 if i were him.

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
Answers;
1. buggy 2. buggy 3. truggy 4. Foxy's XB8 is the best...it does 95mph and can leap the Empire State Building in a single bound;) P.S. the Jammin CRT is the better quality production truggy on the market at the moment. |

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
I beleive the buggys are stronger, less maintanence, easier to work on and cheaper. They handle better and are faster. I own a Jamimin buggy, industructable and a HB stadium. The buggy is more fun to race-bigger class- and more nimble. I bought the truggy so that I could race two classes and not have to wait around so long between heats. When I race at revelation in Ontario Ca. there are usually 50 to 90 racers and the wait between heats can be over 1.5 hours. I race the truggy to kill time, maybe skip one qualifier but always have something to keep me busy. sometimes it is hard to find a pit helper for all the qualifiers and mains so I concentrate on the buggy.
I feel I have to be more careful with the truggy to avoid breakage, the buggy can take anything, |
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
Dave,
I did break some parts but that was the stock 777 steering plate, I'm hopeing the RE one will hold up better. I dont know about the speed and handling thing, for a first run with the truggy I thought it was really fast, my qual. times were really close to my buggy times and I haven't really setup the truggy yet or made any adjustments and the engine was super rich, I think after a little runnning/tunning I can run just as fast with the truggy as my buggy. AT least my truggy MSR 777t I think it will be hard on parts and I will have to drive smoother to keep it in races. ORIGINAL: Super_Dave We had someone build a SP1 into the MSR truggy conversion kit. I guess I'm just a purist. which is faster? at the finals for RCPro they ran 45 min. for unlimited MT and 60min. for buggy. take one driver that run both class (chad Bradley) in unlimited he ran a 66lap @ 45.24 (adv. lap time 41.27) and in buggy 85lap @ 60.12 (adv. 42.76 lap time) you can do the math. which is stronger? back to rcpro again a-mains (buggy 4 out of 15 did not finish) (unlimited mt 5 out 15 did not Finish) which is the better jumper? truggy what is the best truggy or buggy out there? it all come down to price and parts. how much do you want to spend and how long do you want to what on part. see what your local drivers are racing and what parts your local hobby carry. Mugen is what i race in both classes buggy and unlimited mt, less parts to carry both use the same parts for the most part. |
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
whats faster a buggy a truggy or a 4wd elec buggy.
first answer is it depends on track, track surface. second answer is without knowing the track i'ld be putting my money on the nitro buggy (i drive nitro buggy so i have too, don't I) what is stronger a buggy or a truggy. they would be the same strength or the truggy might be stronger, but the truggy will break easier 'cause it'll be heavier and with the extended wheel base etc, there will be more load put on the the parts in a crash. |
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
Faster I would say that the truggy is turning faster lap times then the buggies because of the handling and the high power output engines(RB .28s and so on)
|
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
I have yet to really get gnat's ***** on my truggy setup and I'm still doing just as well as I do w/ my buggy.....the last night I had out at the track I was catching buggies (yes nice setups not crap) w/ my truggy......as far as handling I think I like the truggy more for real hard tracks and the buggy for more grip tracks......as far as what is tougher???? I dunno I really don't break much from crashes just running a part into the ground usually gets me........my truggy is actually lighter than my buggy too...Titanium chassis :D

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
so what is the funnest to drive and race? a monster truck- losi lst
buggy-mugen or kyosha truggy-lightnings and jammins those are just examples but what do you think would be the best to get. because a mt can go through anything. truggys are just as good as buggies. and and are kinda like mts but not really and buggies are fast and quick and are racing machines. so if i were to get a buggy i should pry just go with a truggy instead. i want to race and bash but i want something that is tougher than nails and is fast a good handling and can race like a champion. just need some info |
RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
Take it with a grain of salt, I race buggies... no bashing, just racing.
IMHO if you care to bash (even just a little) the truggy is far better off. When it comes to racing, truggies are capable of hammering out fast laps comparable to a buggy, therfore the truggy fits your needs for bashing/racing. As a matter of fact I know and race with a lot of truggy fanatics, and they would love to see me buy a truggy, but I have held off waiting for the Jammin and Mayhem trucks to show up at the track and get the bugs worked out. Again IMHO, truggies are far more forgiving to set up and drive than a buggy, this makes life much easier for someone just getting started . |

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
lol alright but I know I wouldn't've been the only one to have said that.. But in my opinion I like buggys how there supposed to be I like truggies too its just that those huge wheels must cause alot of strain on the parts.

RE: BUGGY or TRUGGY-that is the question????
alright then what is the better racer/ basher. and what is the strongest. the jammin x1cr or the jammin x1crt
