Look, I'm really sorry I'm gonna say this to you, I know you're new here, and I promise you its not personal, I'm a really nice guy and I like nothing more than helping people out, but did you read ANY of the other threads in this forum before posting this question, which is now getting asked EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Please, read some of the other threads about the same subject, if necessary do a search. If you search for the terms 'cheap buggy', or 'which buggy' you will return 200 or something threads. If you then have a specific question, we will all be delighted to help you out.

That said, welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy bashing your buggy, I don't mean to be nasty honestly...;)

MODS: Isn't it time something was done about this? A sticky labelled buggy buying advice or SOMETHING!!

The buggies you've mentioned aren't that good, think about a mayhem, or even better a Hyper 7 PBS. Both great starter buggies.

I was just thinking the same thing about a sticky. Maybe a few of the more experienced people here can give input on all the low/mid range buggies, relative to how a beginner would like them. Just a bunch of mini-reviews would help a lot.

RE: what buggy to get

Kudo to you Foxy...

Someone finally put the message out there. I too although a semi-newbie ..am sick and tired of "what is the best buggy " Threads.
when I started in this hobby...I started with the boating forum...and like I also did eventualy with this forum..researched my
fingers to the bone. What I realized is that there is numerous brands out there from low end to high end. What you will see in
these common threads is one Theme "what your local LHS supports". I guess the bottom line is if your area does not carry
the parts you need then it is worthless to buy it. I myself went for the Kyosho RTR (7.5 sport). I got myself a second version from EBAy and now all i want to know is how to upgrade to be race worthy. Another good way of researching is to go to the track where
they race and speak to the people that race there. Be a spectator and view what you see and what you appeals to you. This way
you will get a first hand experience and not someone's opinion that you don't know.

Bottom line we need to keep this thread on more technical levels on problems and situations we encountered along the upgrade
, racing , and /or Bashing ways. You may not race but, surely you will bash or mini race a friend. As eventualy parts will break
and need upgrading.

So let the moderators produce a seperate thread that all newbi's can ask The "what is the best buggy " rerun question.

To all a good day!!

Regards,

Winged Avenger

The hobby store is very helpful. Mine is intent on helping newbies to the point that they won't push your products. I needed a starter box and went to my LHS and instead of pushing their Sportwerks box on me, gave me a link to someone on eBay who was selling theirs for much cheaper. (I didn't buy it, though, because another LHS that was slightly more local had it for 10 bucks less... luck.)

It's a good idea.
Someone write the definitive buggy buying guide, get the other experts' stamp of approval on it, and i'll submit it to be stickied. No guarantee, as every sticky has to be approved by the admins.

How about this:

Obviously some sort of disclaimer would be needed saying the brands listed are not endorsed by this site, and that these are just general guidelines, blah, blah, but overall, I thought it was good when I wrote it.

RE: what buggy to get

That is a great post, and i've been paying attention to it as i put my own buggy together. However, I'm not sure it's complete enough. It really only covers one buggy and the low cost option. A good buggy buying guide would have cheap, middle, and no-limits options. It should also have a comparison of the buggy choices in each category. Really it should be a catch-all for all the 'which buggy' or 'best buggy' questions that pop up.

What you could do is cut/paste that info into a new thread, and invite others to add their own opinions, to be cut/pasted into the first post via edit. That way you could build the buying guide. Once it's complete, or near complete, you could change the title to something suitable, and ask for it to be stickied. Heck, now that i'm thinking about it, i'm half-inclined to do it myself. Although with zero buggy experience myself, i'd prefer to have someone with a little more knowledge than me to do it.

In the meantime, keep the link to that post around, and paste it in whenever the inexpensive buggy question comes up.

A good point indeed. As you mentioned though, I don't want to comment on certain aspects of the guide, such as high end buggies, because I haven't owned one. I could only speculate on the brands I would want. I also like your idea of submitting addendums to a thread so that we can all as a consensus come up with recipes from experience on what to advise the new comers on.

RE: what buggy to get

Gerwen,

I have the ultimate idea. post a sticky (insert sticky name here) click on that sticky and have stickys inside that sticky of each buggy company. Kyosho, click under Kyosho inferno 7.5 RTR click "This thread and everything in it relates to the Kyosho Inferno 7.5 RTR this buggy is awesome because its made by Kyosho. It sucks because it has a plastic spur gear from the factory etc. This buggy is an RTR, underline and hyperlink RTR to an explanation of what an RTR kit is. and under each buggy, "This 9.5 RTR comes ready to run with a radio and .26 Force pullstart motor" Pros and cons of buying an RTR vs buying a Pro and adding a motor and radio.

Kyosho
Inferno 7.5 RTR
Inferno 7.5 Kanai II
Inferno 7.5 Kanai III
Inferno MP 777
Ofna
Hyper 7
Hyper 7 RTR
Hyper 7 PBS RTR
Hyper 7 Pro
Hyper 7 TQ
Hyper 7 PCR
9.5
9.5 RTR
9.5 MBX
9.5 Pro
9.5 Violator
Jammin
etc...etc...etc
Xray
XB8
Sporkwerks
Mayhem
GS
Storm

Out next to each section of buggy put a box to compare buggys. in the comparison label everything. Say you are comparing an RTR to a Pro side by side go down the list with whats available for each car checked.

9.5 RTR
Available in RTR version (check)
.21 and larger motor (check)
carbon fiber radio tray (uncheck)
comes in C-hub (check)
available in PBS (check)
carbon fiber or CNC shock towers (unchecked)
front cvds (check)
center cvds (unchecked)
rear CVDs (unchecked)

You can also do the same thing for motors
O.S
RG
VZ
RB
S5
S7
S7II
S7 Worlds II
S7 Worlds II X3
Roddy C5

I dont mean to babble on and on but I think something like this would even increase registered users.
