Kyosho Vanning/Landjump Owners....
This thread is probably a long shot, but here it goes. I'm in the process of restoring my vintage Kyosho Vanning, and was wondering who all here has any of these old cars. (Landjumps and Mints count too.) It's missing several parts, including the entire clutch. Is there any way of using some modern parts on this old car to cut down on tracking down the old discontinued pieces? I looked at the HPI clutches at a hobby store, and they look very similar. Also, it needs an engine. There's that new OS pull start .21 that comes with special smooth crankshaft that looks like it's made just for installing the clutch. Would this work with the older Kyoshos? I can't tell how the flywheel attaches to it. Thanks.

Yeah, here it is in the beginning stages. I'd like to know where you got those wheels and tires; they don't look original but they sure seem to fit well. Also, how did you fix them to the axles? The Vanning has that odd sized hex backing thing for the rims, and no other ones seem to fit. I've begun tearing the rest of the way down, and started the tedious task of removing overspray. (It was in a shop with lots of painting.) What kind of paint did you use on the rollcage? Can you powdercoat it?

I might consider selling my Vanning. I am the original owner. I haven't really thought about selling it until now so not sure of a price yet but if someone is interested I might sell to fund other projects.
The engine (original) runs perfectly but the car has a few probs so I would probably want to sell to someone looking for parts or looking to fix it up. The biggest issue is the the rear diff is a little flakey at times. It seems to "slip". It may just need to be taken apart and looked at. The front bumper is busted too. I may have a few spare parts but I'd have to look around. The tires are like brand new. I'll throw in a set of old tires and rims. I just took a few pix. The car is a mess because I was just using it. Its got an Airtronics radio but I decide to keep that. Well here she is, finally completed (with the help of a parts car). Took a lot of hours, but in the end it was worth it. Frame is powdercoated, all the aluminum was bench polished. This thing runs like a raped ape; with a vintage OS SE B motor nontheless. I can't believe how quick it is. I'll probably run it once or twice more, then up it goes on a shelf next to my Tamiya Hotshot to be the new shelf queen.

i have just been given a vanning and wondering if any one new if the os max s 30 motor is suitable.looks like it will fit but it has a marine cooling head on it.

I know this is a really old thread, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm in the process of tearing down my Vanning and restoring it piece by piece, and I'm looking for tips on two things:
#1 Preparing the roll cage for painting #2 Polishing the chassis Is the chassis made of aluminum? Anyone have any tips for handling these two tasks? Thanks! kyoshofan88 |

Have any extra chains or pieces of chain you'd want to sell,I'm restoring a 1983 thunder tiger silver fox and need chain,motor was gone so put little .16 I had laying round.Runs awesome just doesn't move lol.

Hello guys and girls, I just got an orig. 1986 Kyosho Vanning that is lightly used, never even flipped over, only a small scuff mark on the front bumper it is in great shape, It even has the "flip top fuel cap" that looks like it was never even opened (and the orig. never used screw on cap). The one part I do need is the "knob", the alum. knurled nut that holds the driver and radio box cover in place? (I'm pretty sure it's the same piece on the landjump). I can make one at work but I want to make it exactlly like the orig. I would need all the dim. and a very good pic. of the knurling so I could match it. If someone has allready made them I would rather just buy one. When I get some pics. I'll post them, I haven't even dusted it off yet and I'm not sure what I'll do with it. The wife says I should keep it cause I have always wanted one, So I guess I may clean it up and put it on the shelf. It has an Irvine 25 (I wish it was an OS [&o], so it would be the model I always drooled over ). I did order a new body and stickers from Marwan for it:D Thanks for any help Kevin

I have an OS .21 engine from the original Vanning that I am getting ready to post on eBay. I am also fairly certain I have an extra one of those screws you are looking for that fastens the radio box in place.

New to Me Kyosho Landjump in 2021!
I just purchased a Landjump and I am planning an extensive restoration with modern goodies. I am hoping that someone in here has some knowledge of where to get parts and maybe some advise. All of the forum posts and YouTube videos I can find seem to be pretty to extremely old. When I was 15 in 1990 I had a Landjump Integra (1982 I believe). The Landjump I just purchased on Ebay I think is a 1980 model. It has separate springs and shock absorbers whereas my Integra model I had as a kid had coil over shocks. I am noticing that the instruction manual for the earlier Landjump has one way bearings in the front wheels. I don't remember that being the case in my old Landjump. I am wondering if I will be able to track down some Integra front axles and front differential (if needed) from an Integra. I lucked out and found a place that sells new tires for these cars. I would post the link here but the 2005 rules of this forum forbid me to since I am new. I almost fell over when I found these. I am guessing that the 40 year old tires on the car I am getting will be hard as a rock. Or ready to fall off the rims.
I've got a lot of shopping to do to get this restoration done but my main concerns right now are a replacement spur gear, since I stripped the one on my original Integra when I was a kid. A replacement drive chain, and I really want the Cobra style rims with jelly bean holes that some Integra's had since that's what my old car had. Switching rims I am sure will dictate that I also will need Integra axles all around. Lastly I want an Integra roll cage. I see that there is one on Ebay for $350. That's a lot but I might just need to bite it off and get it. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I would also post a nice pic of this beautiful car here but once again the rule of the land on this forum forbids it. :confused: |

I still probably have more Vanning parts than I'll ever use. I also managed to find a source for new old stock - Kyosho OEM rims/tires that fit without modification for pretty cheap a while back. These days the supply lines from Japan for anything Kyosho seem stuck in pandemic limbo...yet there's probably more of us than ever stuck at home working on R/C projects. I just finished a Turbo Optima re-release last night (finally)...might have taken 2 years if I weren't stuck at home waiting for a vaccine....guess that's one 'silver lining'.
If you want to send me a list of parts you're still missing, I'll take a look. I definitely have a roll-cage somewhere, though it may need some paint or powder-coat.
