Radio box solution??
Hey all, basically I want to remove my radio box to lighten up my buggy a little bit, I was thinking of building another one out of carbon fiber or something but that looks pretty tough, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out and suggest o few things which I could do..
Thanks |
RE: Radio box solution??
I'll be the smart-ass and say don't do it. I doubt you can make it much lighter. Good luck.

RE: Radio box solution??
i don't see how it would make alot of difference weight wise. depending on your buggy you would have to make sure the back of the radio tray has something solid to mount to is this provides stiffness to the buggy and stops the servos moving.
you may also want to do some research on the effects of carbon fibre on the reciever. i know that my transponder says not to mount it above carbon fibre or metal. |
RE: Radio box solution??
JJJEEEFFFFFF is right. It might affect the range some unless you have 100% of the wire outside the box.
Been there done that.... had an antenna mounted directly onto CF once in a RC boat. The range dropped to around 30ft. Needless to say the boat took off and ended up on the other side of the lake with the engine running WOT @ 125730rpm. Be careful. |
RE: Radio box solution??
Why lighten the box if you can shed as much as 70 grams inside of it? (Assuming you are still using NiMH receiver packs).
How, you ask? www.vxrracing.com |
