IMO it would be a toss up between the picco and the vspec. not taking anything away from the hyper engines they are great little budget mill's. but you just cant compare them with a high-end engine. on the other hand, if you are just starting in nitro then the hyper might be a better choice for you. not only is it easier to learn to drive with a slower engine, its also better to learn to tune with a low cost engine. that way you wont waste a $300 one.

I've never had a tougher time tuning a big block engine than with the Hyper 8port. I put an OS carb on it and all was lovely.

what do you guy's think of the Ninja .21 Off-Road Engine because I seen it installed on a lot of hyper 8's and its about the same price as the V-spec and the P7.

its a good engine, slightly lacking on the bottom end from what ive seen. but that could be a pipe or clutch issue.
I'd buy one over a vspec any day. vspecs have questionable bearings and sometimes dont last long.

i've had one and had no carb problems, tho i have heard alot of people say they did. but at any rate i never said it was easy to tune, i said i'd rather kill a $139 engine than a $300 one.

plunk..if it's your first 1/8 buggy, you're gonna crap your pants no matter what engine you get, even if it's an OS .21RG.

the Mugen Ninja will make it haul ass around a track (And seems easy to tune...unfortunately i don't own one), the V-spec is what I'd go for if it weren't for the things I've read about it on this forum (which may or may not be user error, but given the skill level of most of these guys, I'd say it's not), but i'd recommend one of the SH based .21s available (the Sportwerks engine is solid, quick, and reliable as a claw hammer)
