ORIGINAL: Kemo ORIGINAL: bigbadbowtie this is just my opinion...... but you should only remove the glow plug when the engine is flooded or when changing the plug. ARO should be dropped in through the carb. Removing the plug time after time will put undo wear on the threads and will lead to a stripped button. too many companies contradict each other! I asked OS about this once and what they said not to put in the carburetor means not to put it in the fuel line fitting but in the venturi is OK. I guess some idiot was taking the fuel line off and squrting it in the fuel fitting and this could mess up the o-rings. |

All I can say is wow. I've been following this thread for the last few days just to see how it goes and so far here is what I have found:
First, not one person has given supported facts that either bumping the flywheel or pinching the fuel line can cause damage to the engine. Second, anyone who thinks messing with the air filter is a good way to shut the engine down should be running an electric. Third, "opinions are like..." nuff said. Okay here I go: I know for a fact that pinching the fuel line is not going to affect my engine. At the end of every day of running I run the tank dry to make sure I don't wind up with rust since we all SHOULD know that alcohol is hydroscopic which means that it attracts water. Leaving fuel in your engine will cause the crank and more importantly, the bearings, to rust. Also every time that you flip during practice and you have to go running to get it, it usually runs out of fuel anyway. Mute point. Here is how I stop my engine: I use the easiest, fastest, safest, and most convenient way that I can. Period. That method is stop the flywheel. You can't even feel it on a 1/10 scale using a thumb and the toe of my shoe is perfect for 1/8. I don't cut myself, I don't burn myself. You can argue until you are blue in the face and you will not get anywhere because a lot of people like to argue and most people think that the way they do it, is right. Reading an internet post will not persuade someone to change their ways, especially if the poster is not credible. So even if I say that I am right and I've raced for 8 years and compete with factory drivers it does not mean a thing unless Ron Paris who was the engine tuning God of our time comes back from the dead and says so. |
