buggy differnce
I am a noob with the buggys as I run 1/10 trucks and i was looking into getting into the buggy racing.
basically whats the difference between the ofna 9.5 and the hyper 8...i can get the 9.5 pretty cheap so how does it compare |
RE: buggy differnce
9.5 is an older buggy but in my opinion it can still be competative on a club level. I believe it came in a both c-hub and PBS suspensions. Its also sold as the Ravager now and Violator with a King Pin suspension(worst of the bunch).
The Hyper 8 is the newest buggy and is the cream of the crop. More $$$ but a better buggy as well. |
RE: buggy differnce
so the 9.5 is a solid choice...im not oging pro just like you said club level racing
are there good hopups available for the 9.5? |
RE: buggy differnce
the 9.5 would not be the easiest thing to race. If you were a verygood driver, and had your 9.5 suspension tuned perfectly then yah i can be raced competively, but this buggy wasnt made for racing its for bashing. The best racer buggy i would reccmend to a buggy newbie is the Jammin' x1 RTR. Its the same design has its big bro the jammin' X1-CR PRO, without all the fancy parts. It can be upggraded to the PRO later on after you get some more skill. this buggy is alot more raceable then the 9.5, becuase it was designed to do so. I highly reccomend it, and you will definetly not be disappointed if you get it.

RE: buggy differnce
When it comes to racing the Hyper 7 is a bit better than the 9.5, and now that the Hyper 8 is out, it is way better than the Hyper 7.
I went from a H7 PBS/PCR to a H8(same engine and all) and it is a night and day difference. Biggest difference is that my Hyper 7 with no engine and no electronics weighs the same as my Hyper 8 fully loaded[X(] Check out my other thread for some more info on what I think of the 8. From what I understand the 9.5 is much heavier in comparison to the 7, so you'll need a very dialed setup and solid engine to get it moving. |

RE: buggy differnce
And it didn't do nearly as well as anything else out at the time. The Hyper 7 could compete with the MBX4 and Kyosho MP7.5s and whatnot.
Now the Hyper 8 does battle with the MBX5 Prospec and MP777 SP2s;) |
RE: buggy differnce
well im being offered a good 9.5 rtr for 200 cdn with a starter box...is that a deal?
|
RE: buggy differnce
That would be a good deal. Especially if the buggy is RTR with nothing broke. 9.5 would make a great starter buggy at that price.
|
RE: buggy differnce
Yeah that's a pretty good deal I wouldn't pass up.
What kind of starter box? If it's the Ofna chrome-top then that's more than worth it. |
