Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
hey all!
i'm gonna be getting one of these, but i cant decide which to get. i will only be bashing or racing my mate who will also get the same buggy as me. so what i decide he gets. so which is stronger and better for bashing? would hyper 7 be better since if parts break they're only plastic and cheap to replace or go hyper 8 since its alloy and parts wont snap off. |
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
The parts on the Hyper 7 aren't all plastic! The ratio of plastic to alloy parts is about the same.
The hyper 8 doesn't come yet as a RTR either (well I haven't seen one). You will need to buy the radio and engine seperatley. You don't say whether you have experience with nitro buggies or not, but if you don't the hyper 8 route might prove a little expensive. IMO the hyper 8 is the better buggy as it comes with lots of CNC'd parts as standard and is more adjustable. However the hyper 7 is much cheaper and you can get all the CNC'd parts for it should you require them later. So my answer would be........unless you've got loads of spare money get the hyper 7. For what you say you will be doing it will more than suffice and should you decide to race later it will still be competative. If however you have the money get the hyper 8, a good budget engine and an FM radio (but I think by the time you've done all that and got a decent steering servo, battery pack etc you'll be looking at somwhere near $1000 Aus) |
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
the hyper 8 now comes totally rtr with a mach .28 engine, light weight rims, alloy shock towers, larger cc fuel tank, racing air filter and so on. Bascially its the hyper 8 without all the CF parts. I already own a 3PK.
to buy a hyper 7 tq rtr is $550 AUD and a hyper 8 rtr is $750 AUD from my LHS. My LHS also has the last known and possbily last t2r in australia other than ebay which could all be a fake gimmic. if you want i can get pics of both hyper 7 and 8 rtr so that you can compare. also my LHS owner is the best and he will teach me how to tune the nitro buggy and he will also fine tune it. he manges to fine tune most customers hyper 7 tq buggies to travel at around 80kmph which is roughly 50mph i think. |
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
If you've already got the 3PK I'd be tempted to buy the hyper 8 pro and a good budget engine like the SH.21 or TT .21 pro (or even the SH.28 if you MUST have an outlaw engine).
The RTR looks nice but I doubt the engine will be much more than average and my experience tells me that RTRs are usualy built down to a price. I'm sure the knuckles on that will be cast instead of CNC'd and It'll probably have a different chassis too .That said if you must go RTR then all the pro bits will fit on later should you wish to upgrade. Like I said before The hyper 7 is solid and you won't go far wrong but if you must have the best you can afford then I'm sure you'll enjoy the hyper 8 too. |

thats the Hyper 8 RTR and Hyper 7 TQ RTR.
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
Hyper 8 is a lot better, I had a Hyper 7 and it was good, but the Hyper 8 is a lot lot better, in terms of strength (the RTR looks a bit 'cheaped' though) and performance.

RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
what engine did ur hyper 7 come with?
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
I like the tires on the RTR Hyper 8 better then the ones that came with my Hyper 8 kit, which I changed before ever gluing them. If you have a good radio I would get the Hyper 8 pro kit.

RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
ORIGINAL: OverDosed what engine did ur hyper 7 come with? I bought the Ofna kit version and stuck a Vertex 4 port .21 in it. Decent power for club racing. |
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
i can tell otb that something is bad about the battery holder...looks like the batts are gonna pop right off the holder on a landing.
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
thats wot i kept thinking when looking at the hyper 7 tq. isnt a 6 port .28 engine good?
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
by the way, the hyper 8 rtr has a chassis which is metal in the middle and then has 2 strong thick plastic flaps on each side like the hyper 8 pro has while the hyper 7 rtr has just a single solid metal chassis.

RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
hyper 7 rtr dont, its just 1 one piece metal chassis
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
overdosed your pictures show both with plastic mudguards.
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
trust me, they dont. only the hyper 8 rtr has them in the pics. cant use clearly see the colour difference? hyper 8 has black plastic dust gaurds and hyper 7 has none, its just the chassis. i know this as i took the photos and actually picked up the cars. hyper 8 rtr is definately lighter!
|
RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
I've got a hyper 7 and it has plastic stone guards. All buggies come with them. Its probably just because the ones on the hyper y are similar colour to the chassis but on the hyper 8 they're black

RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
ok, i swear those guards were metal though. maybe i just thought they were metal since i was kinda out of it the day i took the pics. i apologise for trying to prove you wrong. but i put 100 bucks on this: the hyper 8 rtr is lighter than the hyper 7 tq rtr.

RE: Hyper 7 TQ RTR vs Hyper 8 RTR
I'm sure it is. The hyper 7 is tough, reliable and good value. One thing it aint though is light!
You can make it much lighter by upgrading the chassis and towers to CNC'd ones and replacing the rest of the alloy with carbon, but then you may have well bought a pro kit in the first place. The options are there though. Have you decided which you're getting yet? |
