i am gonna be racing and bashing, more racing though.
my budget is $400 at the most.

best bet for 350 to 400 is to buy a top notch used kit from someone.the marketplace on this site has some good stuff.

i can get parts for any of them, and i have heard good things about ofna buggies, so i will probably get it.

My recommendation would be to purchase a Sportwerks Turmoil. I am not sure if you can get it RTR with radio for $400 but for the money I would say it is the best RTR out there.
Look at the screws and parts on the OFNA. We don't see many OFNA Ravengers at the track but you will see many Mayhems and Turmoils in the 1/8th Sportsmen class.

If you get the ofna you WILL need to replace the servos and buy a reciever pack which will cost a minimum of $80. I'd also highly recommend buying a new radio which would be about another $80. So in the long run any ofna RTR is a bad choice.

The turmoil has a better engine and a great radio with decent servos. You will need to buy a reciever pack for it though unless you just use 4 AAs. You will also need a 7.2v stick pack because of the roto start but only a cheap one so thats about $10-$15. It beats the pull start on the ravager. Overall the buggy handle better and its much lighter as well.

what about the kyosho inferno rtr's? there are no buggies at my track, its small, the competition is, a s-maxx, a t-maxx, and an aftershock, i have a reciver pack i could use.

Kyosho's RTRs are just as bad as Ofna's [:@].

If you get the ravager it is a good buggy and should beat those trucks you race against easy but it has nothing against a race buggy. You could get the Futaba S3305 ($35 each) servo for steering and probably using it on throttle/brake is a good idea too sense you have quad brakes on a ravager. I use this servo for steering on my buggy that I race with and its a very strong and reliable servo that will last you a pleanty long time dispite its price. You don't NEED to upgrade the radio but its deffinatly a good idea to... the Futaba 2PL great for what you'll be using the buggy for and its only $80. You might even be able to find a 2PL that comes with the S3305 servo.

yea, my track is VERY small and laid back, i guess i should have mentioned what my competition was earlier and that i didnt need somehing that good. I found the Ravager for $300. I like the airtronics MX-2, its only $60.

The hypers will do the trick, PBS is stronger slightly but I think the TQ is the better as you have more upgrading options. They're easily up to the racing you are proposing, and are tough as nails. I think you should be able to get them under that price but the Radios that come with them are not the best.

The PBS doesn't need more upgrade options, plus the ones that you'd think you'd need will fit from the pros, TQ's are good but the PBS is a little more durable for BASHING.

ive seen a few XTM XT2s flyin around and they seem to be a pretty good buggy for what you pay for

wow, i think i will get the hyper 7 tq kit, its $230 on tower, then i can pick out a engine and electronics, and I get to build it. I wil be doing more racing.

If you want RTR, and good electronics, go to the Cen website and under their car exchange program you can get a brand new Matrix for $300. The only drawback is you have to send in another rc car. But all you really have to do is send in a piece of junk Walmart car to cut down on shipping cost, and you won't be losing anything of importance.:D

my LHS cant get parts for it, so the matrix wouldnt be a wise dicision for me, I can get the hyper 7 tq sport kit with th O.S, .21 RG-X (p) engine for $325, i have all the other stuff i need.
in the end they would be about the same, I can also get parts for the hyper 7.

For racing i defiently reccomend you get either the Hyper 7 PBS. the jammin' X1-rtr is most certainly the best Rtr for racing. And later down the road it can be upgraded into its Factory team big brother. the Yper 7 PBs is probably a little bit more durable, but doesnt race as well as the Jammin'. you should also seriously consider waiting a little bit for the Hyper 8 RTR to come out, ive read multiple magazine reviews, and yah there biased, but really the RTr is alot alike the pro kit. The only differences are small items like , TiN hingepins, and shock shafts, and i dont think the Rtr has full CVD's. The ibggest difference between the two is the RTR doesnt have the same machined shock towers, but these things are small and wont affect performance of the car too much, which should make it one of the best, if not THE best RTR to race.

i would get it, but one, i dont need all that, and its to expensive. i am not competitivly racing.
