.32 in buggy

It is almost time to replace my engine on my Turmoil (which has been converted to a truggy). It has the .26 right now, and I wont more of a *grunt* and *umph* off the line and during high speeds. My budget is around $100-$175, and saw the Sure Fire .32. I read the review on RCU, and it seemed like it did pretty well in a Savage. My Turmoil has a locked center diff (put RTV Silicone in there) and has stock gearing (13t cb). I am using the Nova Aluminum Clutch Shoes. Is a .32 engine a good powerplant for the trug, or is it too strong? Thanks.

It'll make plenty of power, but it'll be a waste of fuel mileage...you'll get far less run time w/a .32 than you would with an econo style .21 for a similar price. Check out the OS 21VG, Werks B3 or Novarossi N21BF, all at or under $200ish.

Your using stock gearing with a truggy? Thats why you have no bottom end you need to gear that thing much lower to compensate for the tall tires. Around here the SW .21 will run and even beat some of the higher end motors like the Nova P5. It doesn't have as much bottom end as the RB C6BB but it will hold its own against it without much trouble.

I used one tooth lower on my Turmoil, but it was pretty slow at top end. I heard some pretty good things about the SW .21 too.

And I also have one more question. Can I use my regular equipment such as clutch bell and clutch bell bearings? Because I have heard that some engines have too long of a crankshaft, and the clutch bell is too short. It is going to be a 12t one speed clutch bell, and 5x10x4 bearings. Thanks.

thats the gamble you take with a new engine.

Don't you only have like 2 gallons through it. Also the Sure Fire is made by Axial and I hear they suck balls. The biggest engine I'd put in your "truggy" would probably be a .28. I would get a Mach .28 or LRP Spec 3 if I were you.

Link to the LRP - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKYU8&P=0

I'm going to get it for my Revo when I go big block.

Yeah BAMF, I was thinking the same thing. There's no way in hell your engine is cashed after 2 gallons of running unless you've been doing something to it I don't know about. I also agree with BAMF on his suggestions, the LRP is pretty good from what I hear. The .32 will suck fuel and I don't think you want that.

RE: .32 in buggy

The 28 will suck fuel as I have a K 4.6 in my Savage and it drinks fuel big time. That is one of the reasons I stay with the .21 in my buggy. If you notice many places like Towers has been out or the LRP for months and I have talked to a few that said they where having problems with the spec 3. The LRP are made buy SH as well as the XTM, Sports Works and some others. The XTM 457 is the same thing as a LRP spec 2. A good 28 will run faster then most if not all .32. The .32 just has more torque.

Only one tooth? I have to say I never had a truggy but if your using monster truck tires your going to need to lower the gearing by more then one tooth. The reason why you have no top end either is probably because the engine is overgeared and it doesn't have the torque to pull it. Like I said I could be wrong cause I never had a truggy but I think you should go to the truggy forums to see what kind of gearing they normally run.

Also the sportwerks .21 doesn't have as much torque as the .26 so for a truggy the .26 is better.
