OS V-spec is great in my hyper 7.But I am very disapointed on how quick it has lost its pinch. For the money it should have lasted way longer.I even took my good ol'e time breaking it in right and running it at a good temp.I only got 3 gallons out of the original sleeve and piston.I think I am going to try something different...

I don't know if this will help much but I just bought my Hyper 7 kit (pics on page 1 of this thread) about a month or so ago. Having to build it gives you a whole other perspective on these cars and is way more satisfying. This is my first nitro car as well and I like it so far. The Hyper 7 is a very good beginner car and can be upgraded as you progress in driving and setup experience. Good luck with your choice.

What are the main differences between the different versions of this buggy (TQ sport kit, Pro kit, PBS, etc?). Obviously, the sport kit is way, way cheaper, so I was thinking about getting that for beginning racing. Do you think I will regret that and should just get a Pro or PBS? Currently I drive an older GS Storm on the track on practice days.

Thanks,
Todd

I'd like to know the differences in the PBS and TQ as well. I found a Hyper 7 TQ kit for $209.95. This will be my first nitro buggy. Is this a good deal. Granted I will need an engine and radio. But still is this a good deal for the kit.

Also, can someone suggest a decent motor for club racing and just messing around. I was looking at the CEN Matrix, but I have yet to get these people to return any of my calls or emails. Also parts support is so much better for OFNA. Thanks for any info.

Tx

so what engine is everyone running in their hyper 7?

my mate is running a axe rossi 8 port in his hyper 7, that motor is absolutely wicked down low, in my opinion it's as good, if not better than the os vspec he used to run, definately gives my prospec a run for its money

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

Ive found the Novarossi T21BF to be an awesome motor for the Hyper 7. ITs really cheep, and will hang with the more expensive motors just fine, as long as your track isnt a very long, top-end track. And in the short twistys i find it in some situations better then the high-end motors. As far as the 2-needle carb off of a P5 im runing it with, i was able to get that for free. this is my second T21BF and honestly i cant really tell a difference between the stock carb and this one. Both are really easy to tune, but i guess the 2 needle one is slightly easier to tune becuase of the 1 less needle. And as far as the engine life, these babies last a long long time. This second one ive got right now ison its 3 gallon and hasnt even started to die. Im expecting around 9 gallons out of this one, like i did with the first, and imnot talking easy running, apart from break-in this thing has been ran hard.

The TQ and pro is C-hub, whilst the PBS and PCR are Pivot ball suspension (hence PBS). All parts on the TQ are interchangeable between each othe but share limited interchangeability with the PBS models.
The pro version has much more carbon fibre, CNC'd Alloy parts and comes with a spider centre diff. Ther will be a few more minor differences as well but thats about the size of it

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

yeah the 8-port isnt hard to tune. Some people over complicate it. I thought the same thing when i got my PBS, but ask some questions over on the ofna forums, and youll get a whole bucnh of good tips for tuning the 3 needle carb.

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

I think the 8 port is worth the effort of mastering the carb. Mine flies with my 8 port in, though it doesn't have the low down power of the RG. When the revs are high though it goes like a missile. I think it may even be the same carb as the mach .28, so if your worried about the 8 port then don't get the .28 either.

Nathan9492 01-25-2007 07:40 PM

RE: OFFICIAL HYPER 7 THREAD

i get the .28 and am getting the Hyper 21 8 port PRO Edtion with the boost bottle, i understand that some people DO have problems with the carbs, but u can either get a OS RG carb, or just put new o rings in the carb that u have, dont know why soo many people are complaining to be honest.IMO the power and the price of the Hyper 21 8 port is just unbelievable, you cant really expect more out of a $200 engine.
