RE: AE RC8
Its nice and all but I dont think I'll be selling my 8ight just yet. 1 main thing I dont like is the CF shock towers, anyone think those are going to last?
|
RE: AE RC8
Look pretty convensional. As with all new products, time will tell how good it is. I'm sure AE did their home work and this buggy will be competitive. I'm not going to try to pick it apart based on a couple of photos but those shock towers do have me wondering.
|
RE: AE RC8
is it just me, or does the body look similar to the rc10 series buggies? kind of cool.
|
RE: AE RC8
Oo, not bad. It looks like a giant mixture of MP777, and Hyper 8, to me, though
|
RE: AE RC8
Caebon shock towers? Can you say, "Snap, crackle, pop?" One bad landing and those babies are dead. And there is nothing super special either, other than those towers. I mean, it is nice looking, but it doesn't have any features that make it totally different from the rest, unlike the 8ight
I'm not trying to be overly judgemental, but seriously, AE could have at least put more effort into it. I mean, we expect a laydown servo. It was okay on the 8ight because they made an effort to centralized the weight. most rtr's come with laydown servos. Why not this? [>:] |
RE: AE RC8
Well, they didn't say they were... they just stuck out they're own branded, designed buggy, and let's just see how well it does :)
|
RE: AE RC8
I just do not understand why it does not have a lay down steering servo??? [X(] I do not see anything that has not been done before and I am not overly impressed. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

RE: AE RC8
I dont think that laydown servos can have much of a change other than lowering the center of gravity, but I do agree with you that I'm not all that impressed either. I think Losi ruined it for everyone, but I'm happy about that :D .

RE: AE RC8
it's all about the Suspension Geomerty :D

RE: AE RC8
Im personally interested in the Team magic buggy.
This still looks pretty nice though. |
RE: AE RC8
ORIGINAL: RGX Blade it's all about the Suspension Geomerty :D Looks good, but I would resist forming any opinions until they get to the track. Associated has a well desreved reputation for making good cars. I'm sure they did their homework on this one. Rotor |

RE: AE RC8
The tower looks like a GT tower, the radio box looks hard to get into quickly, and the buggy looks that same as the other 50 on the market.
The lay down steering servo dosen't make a difference, look at the Losi and the Kyosho's which are winning races like no tomorrow. The "plastic" looks like graphite also. The towers should last a while if you know how to drive, I've seen Matrix CF towers last long if they are prepped. |

The point is to keep shiny-side up, and not hit anything, but everyone will always crash at some point, and the strength of the parts are really tested then. If you suddenly screw up of a double, and land upside down, I'm willing to bet you can kiss those shock towers goodbye. There's a difference of a 3-4 pound truck landing upside down, and a 8 pound buggy. And the molded carbon a-arms, well I had problems with those on my T4, I fear to think what'll happen if you clip something, or cartwheel. [X(][X(][X(] |
RE: AE RC8
The link works...but everyone else on the planet is looking at it right now and I keep getting timeout errors from Associateds web site! :(

RE: AE RC8
The buggy looks sweet to me. Cant wait to see it in action

RE: AE RC8
And remember, this might be a pre-production prototype. Specifications may vary. :D

all i can say is, we'll see!

RE: AE RC8
I didn't like the first look of it, and I still don't. It just got nothing new. Take Team Magic as an example. They basically exploded onto the 1/8th scene with all these wild ideas, and it got everyones attention, and then it turned up trumps and it goes like buggery. But Team Associated's buggy is just nothing to look at, I mean, where is the innovation. What have we seen on the last two buggies that have taken the world fairly well by storm, meaning the Team Magic M1-B and the Losi 8ight?? INNOVATION!! And this buggy just doesn't show enough of it, therefore, it just does look like the 50 other mainstream buggies out there.
Yes, I know it is pre-production and that it'll change, and that we will have to wait until it gets going before we can decide properly, but this buggy is never going to win my heart, it just hasn't been presented right. ANd then there's the point that "But Team Associated is a well known brand, surely the car will be good" point, but that aint nesseceraly so. Team Associateds 20 IFMAR Titles have come from buggies that weigh a fraction of this, yet it looks as though they have used all the same materials, just made the chassis longer!! So no, I will never buy this buggy, at least, not until it really really really proves itself... Cheers, Byron |
RE: AE RC8
Personally I think it "looks " good , but that doesn`t really mean anything , all that really matters is how it gets around the track and if it will be reliable . And I don`t think different always means better, sometimes blending in is a good thing, people don`t see you comeing then :D . Just my worthless opinion.
