New buggy

I need to buy a new buggy since my old one can't take the pressure of another season of racing.

The problem is that I need some advice to help me decide. I have narrowed it down to three (four) buggies:

HoBao Hyper 8 pro (UK)
HongNor Jammin X1-CR Pro
HongNor Jammin X1-CR Team edition
Mugen MBX5

So all kinds of feedback and pro's and contra's would be much appriciated.

It will only be used on tracks, no bashing or streetracing.

Is there really no one who has an opinion or is able to offer some help????

I think you can win with any one of them. They're all as good as each other in my opinion.
I'd either go Jammin FTE or hyper 8 pro, but thats just my personal preference

What's wrong with Xray? XB8R is a lot of buggy for the money, spend very little on top of the kit price and you have a serious competitor (Basically it's just braces and shock towers that it needs).

I completely agree, but he didn't put it in his list.

Foxy - I have considered the Xray-buggy. In fact I asked you about it when I were on this forum last time back in nov 05, but there is no parts supply for the Xray around here, that is why I have removed it from my list. There is no Xray on the local track and therefore no one to share knowledge and parts with.

But if your arguments are persuasive enough, then I might reconsider ;)

Btw. do you know or have experience with an internet shop called benracing.co.uk ?

Not personally, no. IIRC though, I've heard good and bad about that store...

As for the XRay...well, don't know what to say, only that it's nearly 3/4 a kilo lighter than a Hyper 7 (fully loaded), has beautiful carbon parts as standard, goes together like a dream, easy to work on, adjustability you can't comprehend, imo the best looking 1/8th body on the track, the smoothest shocks ever (yes, imo, better than the mugens), as I said, unfortunately, as it's the 'R' it needs the uprated braces and shock towers straight out of the box.

Here's a couple pics to whet your appetite, these were taken over a year ago (nearly two I guess, WOW time flies), when I had just finished building it...

It sure looks good - how has its durability been? How much have you used it and how does it look now?

Hi i have a hyper 8 pro kit!! and i cant say how great this buggy is.
No need for hop ups because there already installed.
Easy and widly avaliable spare.
Easy to make adjustments.
Durable.
Great Looking.
the list could keep going on
I would say 8 pro kit.
Myself and 46U own one and my god we both agree its the best buggy for every person.
It just depends on what you like.

RE: New buggy

I would say to go with the buggy that has the most parts at your LHS. They are all great buggies and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses, but that really doesn't matter much. The worst thing (especially for a racer) is having to wait 2 weeks for a part in the mail or having to pack up and leave the track early due to a broken part! All of those cars (including the Xray) are winners.
