Looking for advice!

Hey everyone,

I've been thinking of getting myself a 1/8 Nitro buggy, and have been to the shops around my area and would like your opinions on what they're selling (I am completely new to this):

There are 3 different cars in my price range (IE, cheapest) that they suggest:
Ofna LX Comp RTR at $450 ($400 USD)
Ofna Hyper 7 RTR at $500 ($445 USD)
XTM X-Terminator 2 at $459 ($407 USD)

I'm located in Toronto, so the prices may be higher and if I was to order from the states, would still have to pay duty I'm assuming.

Anyway, I just wanted a car for up at the cottage and in gravel parking lots, etc...

Are there really that big a difference between the cars? Or are they relatively the same?

Thanks for any advice! I'm looking at these cars because they're sold by my local shop and therefore should be easy to get parts to.

Hyper 7 or XTM. In my opinion the Hyper 7 is head and shoulders above the other 2, but I haven't driven the XTM. The LX is just not that hot, full stop.

Good thinking to go with local suppliers, and if you're just bashing on gravel areas, the Hyper will serve you very well indeed.

RE: Looking for advice!

Thanks guys!

I visited another shop today and they were of the opinion that XTM is not good quality (is that true?)
They also suggested I look a the Kyosho Inferno US Sports RTR for $500 ($445 US)...
I think Ofna seems to be the way to go, seems most of the hobby shops carry them

Having said that, could you rate these cars:
** HYPER 8 RTR **
RAVAGER
JAMMIN X1 RTR
9.5 MBX RTR
9.5 C-HUB RTR
HYPER 7 PBS 28Mac*
9.5 VIOLATOR RTR
ULTRA LX COMP
HYPER 7 RTR
ULTRA MBX COMP
MBX R2+ RTR
** HYPER 7 TQ SPORT RTR **
** ULTRA LX ONE RTR **

A simple "Good to Consider:" "Ok to Consider" and "Do not consider" would do, I've been reading about them, but it'd be nice to hear some opinions.

Thanks again! :)

Give us a break! The forum is littered with info about these cars...but I will tell you that the only ones that are worth a toss are the ones that start with Hyper. The inferno sport is a total pile of crap. Arguably the worst RTR in existence. I've seen one first hand. I don't think hte XTM is bad quality, but I dare say that the Hyper 7 is better, and the Hyper 8 better still.

I've had a kyosho sport. It lasted one day of bashing. Complete rubbish. I also have a hyper 7 which has stood up to well over a year of racing and bashing. Its very good (read durable) and fairly raceable. It may not be the prettiest buggy but it is the miniumum I would recommend to anybody setting out in this hobby. Anything less will end up filling a cupboard or being on ebay to pay for your next purchase because it wasn't upto scratch. The hyper 8 is better.
Of the OFNA range the only ones to consider are
Any hyper 7 variety
Hyper 8
jammin

Thank you! That's exactly what information I was looking for! (Sorry if I implied I needed a break down of each one)

I've tried wading through the information, but there's just SO much
