Breaking in a werks engine???
 

Trying to run in my new Werks B3 team line engine. Left the carb setting as factory set, I am on my 3rd tank, first two idled, third tried to drive around a little. Having a hard time getting the temps up and getting the buggy to drive around. What are the correct needle settings on this motor?? Even with a paper towel wrapped around the head 160 degrees is all I can get...

Paper towel won't cut it to raise temps, as it lets too much air through. Best thing I've found is aluminum tape.

No idea what your needle settings should be, but from what you've said I'd go ahead and lean it a bit. Still keep it well on the rich side, but enough to run smoothly and also get the temps up a bit. Just my opinion anyways.

pretty much spot on, u can use Alfoil or an old sock to cover the head of engine

i've heard from a couple of people that it's hard to get the temps up on a new werks engine. the one i got i didn't have to break in as the guy i bought it from had already broken it in. but whenever my friend went and bought the b7 pro he ran a 15 minute a-main with it after he'd leaned it out a bunch and the temps got to like 175-180 right after the race, which he won. i don't know, but his runs good, except at the race in alabama it did some wierd thing where once it went 8 minutes on a tank and then it ran out at like 5 right after that. it could've been that his pit man didn't get him full but i don't know.
