Looking for Beginner Package

Hey guys. My Dad and I are looking to get us some buggies to race. We used to be big in to rc planes but have grown tired of that so we were hoping to try something new. Dad has quite a bit land and we were going to grade us out our own personal track. Anyway, we are just looking for some advice on what to buy. We are looking for and RTR package with this first one then will look into better higher end kits as we get into it. We would also prefer that the radio be decent because we also plan on getting some nitro boats to run as well. We found this kit that looks to be a very good price and just wanted some advice from you guys on it. Would the radio that is included be suitable to run a rc boat as well? Thanks for any input. If this isn't a good deal can you point us towards any? Thanks

not a bad vehicle, its just dated.

If you are looking for a quality radio system, its going to have to be bought separate from an RTR.

I suggest something like an Airtronics MX-3. its a decent priced 3 channel FM computer radio. Pick up a pair of those and you should be boating pretty comfortably too.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a good truck package you would recommend to go along with that radio. We kind of figured we wouldn't be able to find a decent radio in an RTR package. But we certainly are not opposed to buying a good radio then just picking up a good entry level buggy. That is what we did when we got into rc planes. Bought good radios right from the beginning so we didn't have to constantly upgrade.

Cen has a rtr matrix buggy i think it is one of the best and it comes with a fm radio and it has metal geared high tourge servos it one of the best rtr's for the money.

If you want something really Nice as far as radio's go, You can pick up a Spektrum Dx3.o Package right now for 249.00 It includes The radio 2 servo's which are not the best but are usually a lot better than the rtr servo's, and the cool thing about that is that it comes with 2 receivers right now, So you could go that route and just buy another spektrum radio by it self for cheaper and be ready to go with 2 radio's 2 recievers, would still need another set of servo's but you figure thats not bad to speed

300 or a little more and get 2, 2.4 technology radio's

If you are going to buy a radio anyway then buy a kit buggy. They're a lot better than RTRs.
The lightning 2 is not a bad buggy though.

IMO buy a nice used hyper 8, jammin fte, or mugen and just get a decent radio
or buy the new hyper 7 and upgrade the radio when your skills upgrade

If You do buy a lightning get the Pro 2 , not the rtr . Better shocks , shock towers , it`s alot beefier and worth the extra coin.
